I’m so ridiculously fortunate and grateful. 10 years of the @MacGLab, 10 years with talented and thoughtful lab members. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
🎉🎉🎉
Thanks everyone, past and present, and we’ll keep some projects ready for those wee future coders in the picture
Congratulations @FMacG on your 10th lab anniversary! 🎉🎉🎉 Current lab members and alumni are very grateful for your mentorship and support throughout the years, and were delighted to celebrate this milestone (and your birthday!) with you 🥳🥂🎂

It’s true - there are sets of equations that describe key features of the menstrual cycle well, and credit for them goes to years of hard work by researchers like James Selgrade (@NCState), Erica Graham (@BrynMawrCollege), Mette Olufsen (@NCState), and others.
TIL there is a mathematic equation for the menstrual cycle #JHMBootCamp
On the same day that we’re talking about code sharing and open science (bit.ly/3mm28Tw), these menstrual cycle models are a great example of researchers publishing carefully developed, working models that enable others to test, re-use, and build upon their work.

Our review of computational models for #endometriosis diagnosis & treatment (w/ @FMacG & @AGonzalez_JHU ) is out!☺️Connecting findings from labs, animals, & patients takes creativity + collaboration. We talk previous work & future opportunities here: doi.org/10.3389/frph.2021.69…
Huge thanks to @blkwomencompbio for hosting @PLOSCompBiol editors and staff for this workshop; we had a great session discussing the review process, cover letters, how to suggest appropriate reviewers, how to interpret reviews, and how to revise papers & respond to critiques.
Replying to @blkwomencompbio
Check out the editors @PLOSCompBiol assembled for the workshop! We are SO excited!
Thanks to the @blkwomencompbio members who took part for their thoughtful questions. And thanks to the many @PLOSCompBiol editors & the fabulous journal staff for volunteering their time to plan, prepare, and facilitate the workshop. Looking forward to the next workshop already!

A landmark conference, mandated by Congress, to address the NIH funding gaps in women's health. This Wednesday, Oct 20. The 3:30 pm talk will propose investment in gynecology as a way to infuse all of NIH with Biological Engineering approaches....orwh.od.nih.gov/research/202…
If attending #BMES2021 (or other virtual conferences with no captioning), Chrome has a live captioning option: Settings > Advanced > Accessibility > Live Caption. Quite good, and captions stay on top as you Alt-Tab to other windows (read their papers while you watch their talks!)
For the #BMES2021 virtual site, it seems captioning is not available for the live/plenary sessions. @BMESDiversity can this feature be added? At a minimum the recordings should be captioned once available, but in 2021 we shouldn't be having talks broadcast without captioning
