That magical time of year has arrived in the Fortnite community once again: Chapter 7 is coming to an end, the mini-season starts tomorrow, and Chapter 8 is looming right behind it. And with that, the ancient cult of witnesses to "those classic graphics" traditionally wakes up on Twitter. Tens of thousands of people are dead seriously lighting candles and praying for Epic Games to finally come to their senses and bring back the old cartoony style - with warm hand-drawn lighting, crooked fences, and slightly squashed cars that looked like they were sketched freehand by a drunk architect. But let’s face the truth: to Epic Games, your beloved art style is just an annoying misunderstanding from the past. They didn't pour billions of dollars into Unreal Engine just so you could admire cute crooked roofs. They turned an original cartoon shooter into a tech demo for graphics card presentations, where every blade of grass casts a photorealistic ray-traced shadow, and the water looks more real than what's outside your window. The most ironic part is that players are literally asking for one thing: "Make the visuals simpler and more soulful, give the game its face back." And the developers hear this as: "Add even more polygons to the mud underfoot and blind us with sun glare until our graphics cards start melting." Tomorrow the mini-season drops, then Chapter 8 starts, and instead of cozy hand-drawn cartooniness, they will once again roll out a sterile hyper-realistic forest where a cartoon Peter Griffin with a shotgun looks like a glitch in the Matrix. Still, by the end of Chapter 8, we will gather here again and definitely believe one more time.

Don't pop a blood vessel, buddy, the extraction zone isn't real, it can't hurt you anymore.

Next week he’s going to tell us that having a brain inside your skull is an inefficient use of neurons when you could just pay $20 a month for ChatGPT Plus.
BREAKING: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says having RAM in personal computers is an inefficient use of the world’s limited DRAM supply, arguing it would be better allocated to data centers, per Tom’s Hardware

Watching the Destiny community flip flop in mid-air at supersonic speed is perhaps the main sporting spectacle of this autumn. Let me remind you of the chronology for those who missed this Shakespearean drama. First, Bungie comes out and honestly says: "Guys, Destiny support is over, we're throwing all our efforts into Marathon." What do Destiny fans do? They fall into righteous hysteria, declare a crusade against their own studio, and choose Marathon as their punching bag. As a result, a truly great, polished extraction shooter gets tons of unjustified hate, tanked ratings, and curses simply for the mere fact of its existence. Marathon players were just trying to peacefully extract loot while Molotov cocktails from offended Guardians flew through the windows of their servers. And now today, Bungie publishes a single article promising to resume support for Destiny 2, dig up and support even the first Destiny again, and for dessert, heavily hints at the release of Destiny 3. And a miracle happens: pacifism instantly blossoms on Twitter. The very same people who just yesterday were foaming at the mouth burying Marathon and driving its rating down to zero are coming out today with white flags and writing heartfelt posts along the lines of: "Friends, we have nothing to divide us, we all love games from the same studio, let's stop arguing and hug it out!" It looks something like this: a neighbor furiously burns down your garage, slashes the tires on your new car, and writes insults on your fence because his paycheck was delayed. And the next day he gets a bonus, walks out onto the porch with a cup of tea, and generously declares: "Alright, I forgive you, let's get along and forget old grudges." The level of diplomacy we deserve.

If you are over twenty-five and haven't completely dissolved into TikTok algorithms yet, all of this looks like a theater of the absurd. You don't see a person in front of you, but a walking meme wrapped in human skin, surrounded by a swirling vortex of hormones and insecurity. You realize that the cult of Clavicular is just like the cult of that guy in high school who was the first to get an iPhone: everyone was jealous, everyone wanted to be like him, only to find out later that the iPhone had a cracked screen and the guy himself still hadn't learned how to read an analog clock. But the funniest (or saddest?) part is that to his audience, none of this is funny. It’s serious. It’s important. It is life. And while the adult world chuckles and taps its temple, somewhere in a parallel universe Clavicular is deciding which merch to put on today, while thousands of young hearts skip a beat in anticipation. Then again, maybe we’re just old. Or maybe we’ve just forgotten what it feels like when your idol is younger than your sneakers.
Clavicular’s production team had to cut the stream after Jake Paul questioned how he runs a club at 20 despite needing to be 21 to even get inside 😳 “Aren’t you 20... So how do you own a club if you can’t even be in it.”

Remember Gemini 4 Argon? The model that looked like the future of humanity during the keynote, but in practice turned out to be pure torture: sure, it’s great, but the rate limits are so tight that asking one question about the meaning of life puts you on a digital hunger strike until next week. Well, Google apparently decided one Argon wasn't enough for complete happiness and, without missing a beat, announced Gemini 4 Carbon today. And guess what? It beats Argon across the board. In speed, in quality - in everything. And that, my friends, is wonderful. That’s progress. That’s evolution. But there’s one catch that makes me clutch my chest: if the pattern set by Argon holds up, Carbon won't just be a tool, it’ll be a collector's item. Something like a painting in the Louvre: everyone knows it’s there, everyone talks about how magnificent it is, but touching it is strictly forbidden. I can already picture a user opening the app after Carbon drops, seeing the message "You have 0.5 prompts left for this month," and thinking wistfully, "Well, at least I can ask one." And Google hits back: "Oh, no-no, this prompt is too complex for your tier. Try our free chatbot that only answers 'Yes' and 'No.'" And just like that, we’re right back where we started: standing on the threshold of miracles with empty pockets. So if you thought things would get easier after Argon - relax. Most likely, it’ll just get even more entertaining to watch humanity try to squeeze a single full answer out of this new "superintelligence" without violating the Terms of Service. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the results -it’s about the announcement.
