Congratulations 🙏🏽 @B_Fernandes8
The first United player to win the PFA POTY in over 15 years...
Despite the critics rightfully earning recognition of peers and rivals
A testament of hard work and effort
Hopefully we won't wait another 15 years for a next Mens United PFA
This is the funniest one I've seen🤣
Bruno wanting the team to perform at the "HIGHEST LEVEL" and not to fixate on what we achieved previously is him wanting to lower standards
What??🤣
The gymnastics they do to twist Bruno's words they'll have to check for a spinal injury
What's the point of this 4-2-4 press
Typically it's designed to block the center force wide, pincer and force turnovers
We don't do that
His 4-2-4 has far too much space from front to back, midfield very exposed
We did this a lot in preseason and thankfully stopped until now
It all just feels like a mix match of ideas
Not committing to any one thing
Adaptation is fine
But when done correctly
This hybrid approach doesn't work and makes little sense
That's the crooks of what Bruno's calling for
Be committed

Replying to @Kiezzy95
And that's exactly his point
When we half press it doesn't work
The TEAM needs to commit to it
We STARTED pressing high this season yk
But when we don't we don't defend compactly or defend high
We half commit to multiple things
Clearly not working

Exactly
We have m2m pressed at times this season
We didn't against Como but did 4-2-4 instead
Neither fully works (m2m a bit better)
So why do either 🤦🏽♂️
There ARE other options

The TLDR of it is that they both have a point but I don't think either Bruno Fernandes or Michael Carrick are entirely correct.
The narrow 4-2-4 that looks to spring pressing traps has too many obvious solutions against it that United are being undone fairly easily – I explain these solutions in the piece.
At the same time, a full M2M approach doesn't suit the squad either, I highlight the factors behind this too.
Something in between is the solution short-term but for me, the biggest worry is the fact that the players (or at the very least, Bruno Fernandes) haven't brought into a shared vision in how they approach the game.
Without that, it's very hard to win.
Ahahahahah that's hilarious
Fabregas says the exactly same thing Bruno does
I long for the day we're not a laughing stock
Problem is these are situations of our own making
Cesc Fabregas literally saying the same as thing as Bruno Fernandes but people would rather listen to Jamie Carragher he’s never managed a day is in life? Say less!

This always baffles me
One game should never be enough to save or fire a manager
More than that though the criteria for WHY we're considering firing them needs to be scrutinized
The decision to hire or fire a manager should be strategic not reactionary
We're too reactionary

I never get to talk about this outside of work!
I actually agree that the game creates the numbers, not the other way around.
Where I think we differ is epistemologically.
Let me explain.
Tielemans says almost the exact same thing but the witch hunt out is out for Bruno
They don't even make the about the fact he's captain
They'll twist anything he says or does against him
It's beyond criticism
Didn't y'all WANT the players to have a reaction
Didn't y'all want them to not be satisfied at the situation at the club
Thats why the Bruno body language concern was laughable
Would you want your captain to be all smiles when we're having one of our worst ever starts??
This is what confuses me though
Insisted that the other manager change because the board believed more was achievable with the squad
He refused to so he had to go
Why not lay the same mandate for Carrick??
If we're sticking to it then I expect the next manager to do the same
Stay calm, Manchester United fans. Michael Carrick will be sacked 🔜. Manchester United have been planning in the background for weeks. #mufc
Exactly
If United fans still feel we're 1 player away from fixing this I have a live unicorn to sell
You can put any player in that poor set up and nothing will change
Not until we course correct
And you can only do that if you know where you want to go in the first place
How there dare he talk about winning games and trophies
Sure that's going to be the reaction to very reasonable comments
He's stating one of our main problems is using our history to cover for our lack of recent success
But because its Bruno saying it Im sure it'll be twisted
Bruno Fernandes to Sky Italia:
“At this club, there’s too much focus on what’s been done in the past, but we’re not those people anymore.
“The club and the players need to understand that.
“Unfortunately for us - especially when it comes to the players - those who join expect to win trophies, win games, and reach the highest level, but unfortunately, that's been very difficult at this club in recent years. That's the situation.”

More people realising it
Ill keep saying I believe it stems from a misunderstanding of possession
Simply keeping more of the ball does not improve how WELL we use it
Direct play creates more scenarios where we can use the ball better
Poss play does the opposite for us atm
It's ultimately his opinion of what needs to change to improve
Feels safe to say if it's gotten to this point esp after Martinez most of the players are fed up with the way the season has started
And can you blame them?
They were very optimistic coming in , I'd say overly so
I raved Martinez's comments for the same reason why I disagree with Bruno's
Martinez is one player, his voice carries the weight of one
But Bruno as captain speaks for the team
So he should not have said this imo
That said
Is he wrong??
Right message
Wrong messenger
Could have sworn people were criticising Bruno for NOT running this season
"Physically washed"
But now it's a PROBLEM that he's showing energy in the press
If he runs he's performative
If he doesn't run he's not interested
Some point we have to realise it's beyond "criticism"
🚨Jamie Carragher on Bruno Fernandes:
“When he talks about pressing, whether it’s man to man or zonal, for years Bruno Fernandes has meant Manchester United CAN’T PRESS! Because he does things for the crowd. I commentate on games watching Man Utd & he runs all over the place like a kid in the school yard for the supporters. They all think he’s working hard, he’s not. He’s killing the rest of the team doing it.”

The changes made have been inexplicable
Forwards are 1 thing
The midfielders remain my biggest concern
Look at Santos v Paz
You give our DMs open space to defend (bar Baleba) and more times that not they are GOING to get found out
Did we tell recruitment we want to high press
Before he followed instructions to not speak he's "hiding" but now he actually speaks it's a problem
When Martinez had his comments Bruno was called a coward for not speaking
Now he HAS expressed displeasure he's wrong
Almost like no matter what y'all will still hate
Waittt..
INEOS and Carrick:
But honestly it didn't have to go like this
Those numbers were achieved with the same players and manager we have now
But the structure that protected and brought out better versions of these players have been replaced with the opposite
Self-destruction...
