Communications company Viasat has now lost 83% of its fixed broadband subscribers since SpaceX started offering @Starlink services to the public in 2020.
Viasat now has 100,000 subscribers in the US – a decrease from 603,000 reported in Sept 2020. In Q3 2026 alone, they lost another 15,000 subs.
They are losing on average 5,000 subs per month.
Not trying to be picky here or anything. But, wouldn't the ISS be considered the largest spacecraft ever in LEO?

Elon just teased SpaceX's next-gen V4 @Starlink satellites:
"Starlink version 4 will have 10x the capability of V3 (which itself is 10x better than V2), especially with the long-distance laser links. Our next-gen laser links will be 10-terabits per second. 100x better. And we'll put 10 of them on."

STARLINK: Qualcomm Technologies announced that SpaceX selected its Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure platforms for Starlink Mobile’s planned U.S. nationwide terrestrial 5G network!
It is a multi-year agreement that covers Qualcomm Dragonwing QRU100 and QDU100 platforms plus commercial-grade Layer 1 software to power high-capacity Massive MIMO radio units with 64 transmit and 64 receive paths (64T64R), designed to improve coverage, capacity, and spectral efficiency while reducing power use for better deployment economics at scale.
SpaceX plans to start U.S. deployment in 2027 across tens of thousands of sites. Starlink’s satellite capabilities will help create a fully integrated system; the architecture also supports future evolution toward AI-native 6G.
- QRU100 as the Radio Unit (O-RU) at the antenna, handling RF processing, digital beamforming, and DPD for the 64T64R Massive MIMO array.
- QDU100 as the Distributed Unit performing Layer 1 (PHY) baseband processing with commercial-grade L1 software from Qualcomm.
- Fronthaul link between them using O-RAN 7.x splits. SpaceX providing the Layer 2 and Layer 3 software (scheduling, mobility, and control).
- Compatibility with standard 5G-capable Android and iOS phones, plus the power-efficient and O-RAN-compliant design.
- Exact physical packaging of the Layer 2/3 software (whether it runs on the QDU100 hardware or a separate server) is not specified in the announcements, so the diagram shows only the logical split.
In other words, Qualcomm supplies the efficient radio and physical-layer processing at each cell site; SpaceX controls the higher-level network software; the result is a standard 5G terrestrial network that works with existing Android and iOS phones supporting the deployed bands, integrated with Starlink satellite coverage.
SpaceX has selected Qualcomm #Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure solutions to support @Starlink Mobile’s nationwide terrestrial 5G network in the U.S.
