Today, 12 SC Republicans chose integrity over partisan advantage and blocked a mid-cycle redistricting plan that was designed after voting had already begun.
It would have eliminated the state's only majority-Black Congressional district, held by Rep. Jim Clyburn.
We commend them for it. Gerrymandering, by either party, is politicians choosing their voters instead of letting voters choose them. Forward encourages more politicians to step up and protect voters' rights.

Big momentum coming out of this weekend’s Forward Independence State Convention.
We’re proud to announce our newest endorsed candidates for 2026. These leaders are committed to independent thinking, practical solutions, and putting constituents ahead of party politics.
Congratulations to:
• Mike Krachmer for reelection as Vadnais Heights Mayor
• Monique Doward for State Senate, District 11
• Guy Sanschagrin for reelection to the Shorewood City Council
• Peter Erickson for Cloquet Mayor
• Maria Tran for Mayor of Brooklyn Park
These candidates represent exactly what Forward Independence is building: leadership focused on collaboration, accountability, and getting things done.
The movement for a better alternative to the broken two-party system is growing across Minnesota. This is just the beginning.

Quote from Jacqueline F. Fuller, Communications Director of the Black Voters
Committee in Honor of Women’s History Month:
"Black voters have never only sought inclusion within existing systems.
From expanding voting rights to demanding structural accountability in political
institutions, Black Americans, particularly Black women, have been central to shaping
electoral reform movements that are often underrepresented in mainstream history.
