Some surprising heart research out of Chicago today.
Scientists tested a drug that lowered a genetic risk factor for heart disease by 78%.
In a trial involving more than 8,300 patients, it worked exactly as intended on that measurement.
But here’s the surprising part. It didn’t actually lower their risk of heart attacks, strokes, or other major heart problems.
Sometimes a drug can change the numbers without changing the outcome.
That’s why clinical trials matter.
