BOLT FROM THE BLUE!⚡️Caught on camera this week in the Tampa Bay area. Classic example of how lightning can strike 10 to even 25 miles away from a parent thunderstorm. 6 people have died in Florida from lightning strikes so far this year. When thunder roars, go indoors! Hurricane Carol struck on this date in 1954. Carol was the last major hurricane to make landfall in Connecticut. The storm devastated the eastern part of the state and Rhode Island with sustained winds of 115 mph. 📸 Ted Knowlton / Groton Long Point

⚡️ Most of Connecticut is now in a Level 2/5 risk for severe weather Saturday. ⛈️ Scattered severe storms are possible, mainly during the evening. 💨 Damaging winds are the primary threat, but 🌪️ an isolated tornado can't be ruled out. I'll have updates throughout the day.
