i got woo'd by it when Octopath Traveller first came out but i'm really tired of HD-2D artstyle in JRPGS, it's this really ugly and jarring experience that completely takes you out of the world just to hammer in the fact you're playing LE CLASSIC PIXEL ART JRPG!!!!!!!

*this one is more specific to octopath traveller giving enemies and bosses huge and detailed sprites while your main characters are just regular jrpg sprites is another jarring and confusing choice

HD-2D ages like complete shit while Chrono Trigger is still beautiful and full of distinct environments all these years later more importantly it's not straining to look at, a joy to scour for details instead of having an artstyle made to actively hinder a close look
