$XLE $TTE $VLO Energy, week of Oct 26: 12 companies made news worth knowing. 🀝 Deals led the week: 5 energy companies had deal news, and good news for holders made up the biggest share of it πŸ“ˆ TotalEnergies, the French oil and gas giant, made $9.1B of adjusted profit in Q3, up 51% from Q2, and its operating cash flow rose 25% to $12.3B πŸ’° TotalEnergies bought back $1.5B of stock in Q3 and set $2.5B for Q4, but war-lifted oil prices and a $3.1B short-term cash boost helped, so this pace may not last 🀝 Valero, a fuel refiner, agreed to buy LyondellBasell's old Houston refinery next door for $320.5M and plans to restart 165,000 barrels a day by year-end 2027, about 5.5% more capacity ⚠️ Valero says the plant should add to profit in year one, but it gave no restart cost, and its hoped-for return above 25% rests on guesses about future prices 🀝 EQT is buying fellow gas producer Range Resources with stock only, 0.987 EQT shares per Range share, leaving Range holders about 27% of the combined company πŸ“… EQT holders drop to about 73% of a bigger company in return for $325M a year in hoped-for savings within two years, with closing aimed at Q1 2027 🀝 Woodside will sell QatarEnergy up to 3 Mtpa of LNG (chilled natural gas) from its Louisiana plant for 20 years, but supply starts at an undated time after 2029, and the plant is 32% built ⚠️ Not all of it was good: 1 energy company had bad news for holders this week

$XLU $AEP $LNG Utilities, week of Oct 26: 18 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Results led the week: 9 utilities reported, and nearly all of that news was good for holders, while 6 companies raised their outlook βœ‚οΈ Not all news was good: 1 utility cut its outlook, and 1 results report was bad for holders πŸš€ American Electric Power, serving 5.6M customers in 11 states, raised its five-year build plan to $100B from $78B and its yearly profit-per-share growth goal to 9%-11% from 7%-9% ⚠️ The catch: AEP has not said how much of the $100B comes from debt or new shares, and its share count already rose to 544M from 535M πŸš€ Cheniere, the top U.S. exporter of LNG (super-cold liquid gas), raised its 2026 cash flow goal to $6.05-6.55B from $5.30-5.80B, the pot it uses for buybacks and dividends ⚠️ Cheniere's raised core earnings goal needs $2.71-3.21B in the fourth quarter alone, against $1.90B in the third, a big jump to watch πŸš€ NiSource set a $40.0B plan for 2027-2033, with $8.0B for data centers, and raised its yearly earnings growth goal to 10%-11%, though new shares could eat into that 🏦 Alliant Energy closed on up to $5.1B of lower-interest 30-year federal loans for gas plants and storage, but it can draw only as projects qualify, and it gave no rate ⚠️ Hβ‚‚O America, a water utility in four states, proposed selling $325M of units that pair a bond due 2031 with a deal to buy its stock, so if the sale goes ahead, new shares would come around November 1, 2029

$XLRE $EQIX $DLR Real estate, week of Oct 26: 26 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Results led the week: 21 real estate companies put out 23 results reports, and 18 of those reports were good news for shareholders, with just 2 bad πŸš€ Equinix, a data center owner, raised its 2026 forecast for AFFO per share (cash profit per share) to $43.71–$44.11 after record Q3 bookings of $533M at a yearly rate, up 35% ⚠️ The catch for Equinix holders is that $0.31 of that raise comes from its atNorth joint venture, and its debt rose to $25.2B as it borrows to build πŸš€ Digital Realty, another data center owner, raised its 2026 forecast for Core FFO per share (cash profit per share) to $8.30-$8.35 after leases signed in Q3 set a record $627M of yearly rent ⚠️ The bear read for Digital Realty is that its raised 2026 forecast leaves $2.03-$2.08 of cash profit per share for Q4, below the $2.10 it made in Q3 πŸ’° JLL, a property services firm, posted record Q3 earnings of $6.85 a share, up 49%, and plans a new $500M buyback that takes its 2026 buybacks above $1B 🧾 On the bad side, lab landlord Alexandria took a $637.9M write-down on buildings it is selling, and its quarterly cash profit per share (FFO) fell to $1.54 from $2.22 a year earlier πŸš€ Shopping center owner Federal Realty raised its 2026 Core FFO forecast to $7.54–$7.58 a share and bought back about 1% of its stock

$XLB $GLW $HWM Materials, week of Oct 26: 27 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Earnings led the week: 16 companies reported results, and 11 of those reports were good for holders, 4 bad and 6 mixed πŸš€ Corning, the glass and fiber-optic maker, beat its own forecast with adjusted profit of $0.91 a share, up 36%, and expects $0.96 to $1.00 next quarter ⚠️ The catch at Corning is that its plain profit was $0.78 a share, since its adjusted figure counts the yen at locked-in hedge rates, drops real hedge gains and leaves out some tax items πŸš€ Howmet Aerospace, a maker of jet-engine parts, grew sales 29% to $2.703B and raised its 2026 profit forecast to $5.50 a share from $5.27 πŸ’° Howmet also added $5B to its buyback (buying back its own stock), which can shrink the share count 🧾 International Paper, the box maker, lost $1.10B in the quarter after a $1.38B write-down of its Europe, Middle East and Africa unit πŸ’° Methanex, the top methanol maker, plans to buy back up to 5% of its shares, which can shrink its share count 🀝 Perpetua Resources, an Idaho miner, signed a U.S. Army deal to explore for tungsten, with the Army putting in $40M and Perpetua matching it ⚠️ Methanex's CEO says its high prices come from a Middle East conflict cutting supply, a risk for holders if that supply comes back πŸ“… International Paper also stopped forecasting its Europe, Middle East and Africa unit, which it plans to split off, so watch its November 3 investor day

$XLY $AZO $CVNA Consumer discretionary, week of Oct 26: 36 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Results led the week: 17 companies reported, and most of their results news was good for holders 🀝 Deal news came from 7 companies, including the cash buyout bids for Wendy's and LCI Industries ⚠️ There was bad news too, as one company cut its outlook, one hit debt trouble, and one leader-change filing was bad for holders πŸ† Carvana, the online used-car seller, sold a record 217,385 cars last quarter, up 39%, and net income rose to $483M from $263M πŸ“‰ The catch is that each car earned less, as adjusted profit per car fell to $3,680 from $4,085 ⚠️ Carvana also plans to stop giving quarterly and yearly forecasts after its Q4 2026 call πŸ‘€ AutoZone, the car-parts chain, said finance chief Jamere Jackson leaves for FedEx on November 25 with no successor named, though it says the exit has nothing to do with its results πŸš€ The RealReal, an online luxury resale site, beat its own forecast and raised its 2026 adjusted profit outlook to $71.1M-$72.6M from $66.0M-$69.0M 🀝 Burger chain Wendy's got a $7.35-a-share cash buyout offer from a group that includes Trian, its 16.25% owner, but nothing binds yet and independent directors will review it 🀝 LCI Industries, an outdoor-recreation parts supplier, got a $101-a-share cash bid, but its board still backs its all-stock Patrick deal and will update holders in due course

$XLF $LYG $MSTR Financials, week of Oct 26: 50 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Earnings reports led the week: 22 of the 50 companies put out 33 results reports, and 23 of them are good for holders, with only 5 bad πŸ“ˆ Lloyds, a big UK bank, said Q3 pre-tax profit rose 99% to Β£2,332m, but last year's quarter carried an Β£800m car-loan charge, and against Q2 profit rose just 3% πŸ“… Lloyds kept all of its 2026 goals, and holders get the next check with its full-year results on 28 January 2027 πŸ‘€ Strategy, the biggest company holder of bitcoin, said its finance chief leaves on November 5, with a new one starting January 1, 2027 ⚠️ Strategy's $19.53B Q3 profit came from a $20.91B paper gain on bitcoin, on just $125.4M of revenue, so its earnings follow the bitcoin price 🧾 Prosperity, a Houston bank, earned $1.18 a share in Q3, down from $1.67 in Q2, mostly on $69.7M of merger costs. Without one-time items it earned $1.67, up just 3% from Q2's $1.62, because shares rose 19% 🀝 9 companies had deal news. Renasant, a Mississippi bank, will buy a Tennessee bank for about $142M and expects to earn about 4% more per share in 2028 than without the deal 🏦 On the other side, 6 companies put out 10 reports on new shares or bonds, 4 of them bad for holders. A Freedom Holding unit agreed to sell up to $1.16B of 7.8% bonds to a Kazakh state fund, about $90M a year in interest if fully used βœ‚οΈ 1 company cut its outlook, in 2 reports that are both bad for holders

$XLV $LLY $MRK Health care, week of Oct 26: 65 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Good news led the week: nearly all the results from 26 health care companies, and most of the drug trial or approval news from 23, were good for shareholders πŸš€ Eli Lilly, maker of Mounjaro and Zepbound, raised its 2026 sales outlook to $91–$92B from $85–$87B as third-quarter sales rose 39% to $24.4B βœ‚οΈ But Lilly cut its 2026 profit-per-share outlook to $35.00–$36.00 from $35.50–$36.50, as $4.57 a share in charges to buy unproven drug candidates outweighed a $4.07 underlying increase πŸ“ˆ Merck's sac-TMT helped already-treated endometrial (uterus lining) cancer patients live a median 19.0 months versus 12.1 on chemotherapy; the FDA aims to decide by June 15, 2027 ⚠️ The bear case for Merck is that severe side effects hit 54.4% of sac-TMT patients versus 41.4% on chemotherapy, and these are interim (early) results 🀝 Surgery Partners, a surgery center chain, agreed to a $23.50-a-share cash buyout, 20% above its Oct 26 morning price, but top holder Bain (38.15%) swaps its shares into the buyer, and other holders must also vote yes ⚠️ Rapport Therapeutics, a brain-drug biotech, launched a $350M sale of stock and convertible notes (debt that becomes shares), and the stock part alone would add about 15% more shares πŸ“… Palvella Therapeutics, a rare skin disease drug maker, won FDA priority review for its rapamycin gel, and the FDA's decision is due February 28, 2027

$XLK $META $AMAT Technology, week of Oct 26: 74 companies made news worth knowing. πŸ“ˆ Earnings led the week: 37 tech companies put out 46 results reports, and 33 of them brought good news for owners βœ… Big contracts were another bright spot, as 13 companies shared news of one, and all 15 of those reports were good for owners 🏦 Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, launched $35B of stock sales and plans about $95B in all to fund its AI build, with $135 to $145 billion of spending planned for 2026 ⚠️ Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom may buy up to $5.0B of the new Meta stock, but that interest is not binding 🀝 Applied Materials, which makes chip-making tools, will lift its stake in Dutch toolmaker Besi to about 20% from 9%, but it has not said what it is paying 🀝 Applied says it has no intention to go past about 20% or seek a Besi board seat, which cuts against a takeover πŸš€ Vertiv, which powers and cools data centers, grew third-quarter sales 61% to $4,313M and raised its full-year sales forecast by $650M ⚠️ Bad news was rare: 3 results reports, 2 reports of other kinds and 1 of the 4 leader changes hurt holders 🏦 Guidewire, whose software more than 570 insurers rely on, will pay $1.7B in cash for AI firm hyperexponential, partly with a new $1.0B loan ⚠️ Battery maker EnerSys is buying Ultralife for $16.00 a share in cash, 166% above Ultralife's Oct 26 close before the deal news, to add U.S.-based defense battery capacity

$XLI We did a deep dive on the industrials industry. 🏒 Industrials had the busiest week of any industry, with 97 companies in the news, and 56 of 74 earnings filings and releases were good for holders 🀝 Thrive Holdings will pay $10.00 a share in cash for home security company ADT, 45.6% above its $6.87 close, but without a rival bid that price is also the most holders get 🀝 DoorDash's $65.00 a share offer for Instacart sits $6.58 above Instacart's $58.42 close, and DoorDash's $1.25B payment if regulators block it, about $5.40 a share, covers most of that gap ⚠️ The catch is time, since the Instacart deal may not close until the end of 2027 or the first half of 2028 and Instacart pulled its guidance, so holders wait without forecasts πŸš€ Aerospace parts maker Arxis raised its 2026 revenue forecast to $2,050–2,070M, but that range points to a fourth quarter below the third πŸš€ Norwegian Cruise Line raised its 2026 forecast to about $1.70 a share from about $1.50, yet pricing keeps shrinking, with Net Yield down 6.7% in Q3 and a drop of about 6.5% forecast for Q4 πŸ”₯ Boeing lost $0.26 a share, and a one-time $252M gain outweighed its whole $204M core operating profit, so a record $745B backlog is not yet turning into profit πŸ“… November 28, 2026 is the last day ADT can look for a better offer, with a possible 10-day extension, so holders learn then whether anyone beats $10.00 Full report linked in the replies.

$DCH Will Dauch hit even its cut $1.350B–$1.375B 2026 EBITDA target as Q4 headwinds build? βœ‚οΈ Dauch, a Detroit driveline and metal-forming supplier to automakers, was worth about $1.13B at $4.775 a share at 16:01 ET on October 30, 2026, and it has cut its 2026 Adjusted EBITDA target to $1.350B–$1.375B from $1.360B–$1.425B πŸ”₯ The same filing deepens its full-year 2026 net loss target to $195M–$220M, from the $135M–$200M it set on August 7 πŸ“‰ Preliminary Q3 Adjusted EBITDA of $355M–$360M is below Q2's $389.6M, and Q3 swings to a $42M–$47M net loss after Q2's $1.0M profit ⚠️ After first-half Adjusted EBITDA of $698.1M and Q3, the new target leaves about $292M–$322M for Q4, as customer production swings, inflation and energy costs weigh πŸ“‰ Sales guidance rises to $10.8B–$10.875B from $10.6B–$10.8B because of metal pass-throughs, yet the EBITDA margin at the midpoints slips to about 12.6% from about 13.0% ⚠️ Q2-end long-term debt of $5.03B, against $880.8M of cash, is over four times the $1.13B market value at 16:01 ET on October 30, 2026 🏦 The $260M–$325M Adjusted free cash flow target, which leaves out cash restructuring, acquisition and synergy payments, is to be narrowed closer to its midpoint, while on August 7 unadjusted 2026 free cash flow was targeted at -$105M to -$90M πŸ“… Next: Full Q3 results come before the open on Friday, November 6, 2026, with a 10:00 a.m. ET call; watch how Q4 is expected to reach the target Source: SEC 8-K, Oct 30 + Q2 release 8-K, Aug 7

$OPY Will Oppenheimer (OPY) report full-year 2026 diluted earnings per share above $3.00 in its 2026 annual report? We did a deep dive on Oppenheimer. 🏒 Oppenheimer, a New York brokerage and investment bank, fell 20.3% to $85.92 on October 30 after third-quarter profit dropped 75% πŸ“‰ Diluted EPS is $1.07 after nine months, so the fourth quarter must earn about $1.93 a share, more than the third quarter's $1.81 even with the rights charge left out πŸ“ˆ The YES case rests on cash-paid advisor stock rights remeasured to the share price: at $85.92 the stock is $32.04 below the $117.96 that set September's liability, so the $21.0M quarterly charge could turn into a credit πŸ† Record managed assets of $59.6B set fourth-quarter advisory fees, and hedge-fund incentive fees helped fourth-quarter 2025 net income reach $74.4M ⚠️ The NO case: adjusted EPS fell about 35% to $1.96 even without the charge, and Capital Markets lost $9.9M before tax as stock-underwriting fees fell 82% ⚠️ The rights credit will not be dollar for dollar because unvested cost still reaches earnings, and hedge-fund assets lost $443M in value in the third quarter, which could thin incentive fees πŸ“… Watch the December 31 share price, since a climb back above $117.96 would bring the rights charge back Our call: YES. We find out when Oppenheimer files its 2026 annual report on Form 10-K, due in February 2027. Full report linked in the replies.

$PRCH Will Porch's new 15M-share ATM, about 11% of its stock, weigh on PRCH ahead of the Allied Trust close? 🏒 Porch Group, a homeowners insurer, signed an at-the-market deal with StoneX on October 30 that lets it sell up to 5M new shares and its Reciprocal up to 10M existing ones, sizing a program its October 13 Allied Trust release said only that it expected to file ⚠️ At $20.54 (16:07 ET, October 30, 2026), Porch's 5M shares are worth about $103M, about 3.8% of the 132.6M shares outstanding and about 65% of its own $157.6M of cash and investments at September 30 ⚠️ The Reciprocal's 10M shares, of the 16.2M it holds and about $205M at that price, are not new stock, but they cannot vote while it holds them, so sales would add to voting shares; with Porch's 5M, that is about 11% of shares outstanding 🏦 Porch gets none of the Reciprocal's proceeds, pays StoneX 1.5% of gross proceeds on its own sales and names only general corporate purposes for its cash 🏦 In return, the Reciprocal, which Porch runs but does not own, can turn PRCH shares that largely don't count toward its statutory surplus into cash that does, to support its rating, pay claims or fund acquisitions ⚠️ Neither Porch nor the Reciprocal has to sell any shares, and sales can come at market prices or in block trades, so the pace of any selling is not set πŸ“… Next: The Allied Trust closing will not occur earlier than January 1, 2027, and Porch expects it in the first quarter of 2027 Source: SEC 424B5 + 8-K, Oct 30; 8-Ks, Oct 28 + Oct 13

$LYB Will LyondellBasell's $321M sale of its shut Houston refinery unit to a Valero subsidiary close in Q4 2026 as planned? 🏒 LyondellBasell, a global plastics and chemicals maker worth about $21.59B at $66.845 a share at 13:03 ET on October 30, 2026, says in its Q3 10-Q it agreed on Oct. 29 to sell Houston Refining, L.P., owner of its shut Houston refinery site, to a Valero subsidiary for $321M; the unit held about $15M of assets and $315M of liabilities at Sept. 30, 2026 🀝 That is the shut-refinery unit whose $320.5M sale to a Valero subsidiary the Oct. 30, 2026 8-K announced, so LyondellBasell hands off about $300M of net liabilities on top of collecting the cash 🀝 The 10-Q gives no estimate of any gain on the sale; it says the sale is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory and other customary closing conditions ⚠️ Against that, the company strips sale gains out of adjusted EPS, and the cash coming in is only $321M, about 1.5% of the $21.59B market value at $66.845 a share at 13:03 ET on October 30, 2026 πŸ”₯ The shut sites still cost money, with discontinued operations, mainly refining plus the Berre refinery teardown, losing $22M pre-tax in Q3 2026 and $57M over the first nine months πŸ“… Next: The Houston Refining, L.P. sale is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory and other customary closing conditions Source: SEC 10-Q, Oct 30 + SEC 8-K, Oct 30

$LNT Follow-up: Will Alliant's plan to sell up to $2.7B of new stock through 2030 dilute its EPS growth? 🏒 Alliant Energy, the Midwest regulated electric and gas utility worth about $18.55B at $71.81 a share at 12:01 ET on October 30, 2026, says in its 10-Q that it expects to issue up to $2.7B of common stock from 2027 through 2030 (about 14.6% of that value), helping fund the $15.9B 2027-2030 capital plan set October 29 ⚠️ That is about 37.6M new shares at that price, or 3.6% a year over four years ⚠️ That comes on top of up to $650M of forward stock sales Alliant expects to settle in the rest of 2026, at contracted forward prices of $66.01 (2025 program) to $72.89 (2026 program) a share, or roughly 8.9M-9.8M shares 🏦 Debt does more of the work in 2027, with up to $1.3B planned at the Iowa utility, $500M at the Wisconsin utility and up to $1B at the parent level, while $675M of existing debt matures that year πŸ“ˆ On the other side, Alliant guides 2027 EPS to $3.63-$3.73, 8% growth at the midpoint, and much of the equity is already priced: at September 30 its forwards could have been settled for $1,232M at $66.01 (2025 program) and $504M at $72.89 (2026 program), and it expects higher 2027 operating cash flow from data-center sales and tax-credit transfers πŸ“… Next: The up to $650M of forward settlements is expected for the remainder of 2026, and the $0.5625 quarterly dividend starts with the February 2027 dividend payment Source: SEC 10-Q, Oct 30 + SEC 8-K, Oct 29

$GD Is GD's updated $17.20–$17.30 EPS outlook cautious when it implies a weaker Q4 than Q3's $4.49? 🏒 General Dynamics, the Gulfstream business-jet, shipbuilding and combat-vehicle maker worth about $102.02B at $377.26 a share at 12:01 ET on October 30, 2026, updated its 2026 diluted EPS outlook to $17.20–$17.30 in its Q3 10-Q filed October 30 πŸ“ˆ The same 10-Q, which reports Q3 diluted EPS of $4.49, now guides 2026 revenue to $56.5B–$56.8B with an operating margin around 10.5% 🏦 The new $17.25 midpoint of the 10-Q's range, at $377.26 at 12:01 ET on October 30, 2026, puts the stock at about 21.9 times that midpoint πŸ“… After the first nine months' $12.83, the range implies Q4 EPS of $4.37–$4.47, just under Q3's $4.49 but above the $4.17 GD reported for Q4 2025, on implied Q4 revenue of about $14.36B–$14.66B against $14.566B in Q3, while backlog jumped to $220.3B from $136.5B in Q2 πŸ“ˆ On the other side, nine-month diluted EPS is up about 13.6% to $12.83 from $11.29, Q3 backlog jumped to $220.3B from $136.5B, and a Q4 that only matched Q3 would put the year at $17.32, above the new top end πŸ“… Next: Danny Deep takes over as CEO on January 1, 2027, with Phebe Novakovic moving to executive chairman, and the Q4 report will show whether 2026 EPS clears $17.30 Source: SEC 10-Q, Oct 30 + 8-K, Oct 7

$DRS Follow-up: Will Leonardo DRS's earnings hold up in Q4 once a one-time $22M Q3 tax gain is gone? 🏒 Leonardo DRS, a U.S. defense electronics maker worth about $10.11B at $37.875 a share at 12:01 ET on October 30, 2026, showed in its Oct. 29 8-K release a Q3 tax provision of just $1M on $116M of pre-tax earnings ⚠️ Its 10-Q, filed Oct. 29, puts the Q3 tax rate at 0.9% against 17.2% a year earlier, mainly because a roughly $22M reserve for uncertain taxes on a 2022 return was released when the statute of limitations ran out ⚠️ That $22M is about 19% of Q3 net earnings and about $0.08 a share, and the adjusted EPS math does not strip it out, so the $0.46 adjusted EPS would be about $0.38 without it 🀝 DRS also paid about $18M in cash for about $20M of tax credits that will partly offset its 2025 Federal and New Jersey taxes πŸ“ˆ Even with the benefit taken out, Q3 net earnings would be near $93M, still about 29% above last year's $72M, so the business grew without it ⚠️ The nine-month tax rate is 10.2% against the 13.0% rate in the raised full-year guide, which implies a higher tax rate in Q4 πŸ“… Next: DRS is aiming for the fourth quarter of 2026 to complete its $450 million Raft LLC buy, paid with cash and revolver borrowings Source: SEC 10-Q, Oct 29 + 8-K release, Oct 29
