In the name of Christian unity on Reformation Day, I think we should all agree that Martin Luther was right about the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Machines are tools, not persons. Today, some propose granting these systems rights, or even legal personhood. Such an approach risks obscuring human responsibility and leaving those who suffer harm to confront a faceless entity.
I struggle to imagine Steve Jobs being fine with putting AI into email writing. I reckon he would actually implemented a method of detecting AI written emails before encouraging any user to do so themselves.

An old Ministry boss once told me never to post on church comms about clock changes. His logic was that no one’s workplace or business they would go to would do this - if you want to be somewhere for an event, you figure it out. If someone wants to be at Mass, they will be.

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…

It’s probably a side effect of ageing but I wondered today why so many Main Event locations in life seem like back-stage. Schools and classrooms. Hospitals and waiting rooms. Workplaces and supermarkets. Ugly spaces where we do the vast majority of our living.

A tremendously encouraging service before the @marchforlifeuk today - +Horsham preached on the incarnation of Jesus and its implications for human dignity, Fr Tom celebrated holy communion, and +Bradwell sent us away with an episcopal blessing. Then... off to the march!
