A free, OSR looking maps option, @davesmapper is an online mapper with a connected-tiles design that you can switch or rotate to make your dungeon. You can also submit your tiles, and make a donation or buy something at their store to help the site. davesmapper.com/

holy shit the NYPD budget is 5.9 billion???? cutting 1% of that is literally 59 millions dollars ???? you could fund about 1000 kids full 4 year university schooling with just that 1%...annually
Hachi at Shibuya Station.
Hachi was a loyal companion. Everyday day he ran to Shibuya station to await his master and friend, Professor Uneo.
One day Uneo met an I'll fate and did not come back.
Still, every day Hachi waited.
Now, even after death, Hachi still waits.

Do you think it is possable to have a player play a character whose charisma, intelligence or wisdom is higher or lower than what the player possesses.

How do you deal with a player who intentionally has a low intelligence score but solvs all the riddles, puzzles and makes all the plans?

ALT 1 panel comic. Title: "When the players sense danger at the last minute". Image of a giant in a dungeon, standing poised with a bat next to a small door. The small door has a speech bubble come out of it: "Guys, I think there is something dangerous on the other side of this door...". The giant looks worried, sweating, whispering to themself "oh no, they know".
They got the dino back!
And they attached a string so it wouldn't float away again 😂
I hope that astronaught gets his dino back before they arrive at the space station.

In my #dnd social skills group, I've been exploring the concept of love languages, and how they differ. The most drastic case is 'the stabber,' an entity who shows affection through stabbing, and the players have been teaching him how to communicate in safer ways. It's great.

"In any story where you go to another world and especially a shared setting like the world of Dungeons & Dragons, there is a power—a really wonderful resonance—when you meet things you're familiar with, and so what I like to do is mix in the unfamiliar with the familiar." #DnD

I stopped using experience points in my #dnd5e game more than a year ago and have never looked back. Instead I use the milestone system. It’s better because it discourages the #murderhobo play style. PCs don’t have to kill everything they meet.

#ttrpg friends, let's talk environments. What is your favorite biome to adventure in and what is your favorite environmental feature to see?
Love my some Taigas for some reason. Boreal forests just feel so unwelcoming and harsh.
My fave feature has to be big ass bridges.
Roots as a combat-grid game, yes. But also its roots in the Western concept of monolithic truth.
The idea that there is one absolute truth (righteousness) and everything else is outside that truth (evil).
In this paradigm there will and must always be beings who simply are evil

Removing the alignment system from #dnd helps, but it needs to be replaced.
Functionality, it was there to help with quick character creation (i.e. I'm a CG rogue). Now we have backgrounds which help, but don't entirely fill the gap bc they don't describe PC personality.
Fortunately, personality traits and ideals in #dnd5e really *do* fill the functionality gap of alignment, and they fill it better than alignment ever did.
These tools help players create defined characters and make them interesting. They are entry points to play wo extra baggage
