Because unlike other games with a lot of guard rails and restrictions, Valve games throw you into a sandbox with the source engine and says, "Figure it out. Good luck."
This is why Valve games have insane learning curves to be masters at it compared to other games.
When you're really good in most games, that means you got a decent KDR and have the shiniest guns, whatever.
Being really good in Valve Games means you're pulling off crazy stunts and getting the drop on people 20 seconds into a game and no one can match your level if they tried.
