Canada’s independent fish harvesters generate billions of dollars for the economy annually. In my first speech as Minister, @FishIndependent and I talked about our shared priorities for helping Canada remain a leader in world-class, sustainable fish and seafood.
Thank you for joining our meeting! Independent fish harvesters are the backbone of the economy of rural coastal communities. We look forward to working with you on the many files facing our industry.

2/3 This is just one more example of how the Trudeau Liberals have cost Canadians. Fishers have been hurting because of the pandemic and their needs are not being met. @RABlaney and I stand with the Independent Fish Harvester's Federation.
1/3 The Fish Harvester Benefit Program, which runs until October 1, was supposed to support commercial fishers through a very difficult year. Instead, it’s making life even worse with for over 4000 harvesters as DFO claw backs nearly $18M.
