Taking the No. 4 spot on our Top 100 Wines of France 2026 list is the Château Trottevieille St.-Emilion 2023. Following a top 2022 release, Philippe Castéja and Frédéric Castéja have produced another exceptional red, distinguished by its balance, drinkability and value.
The 2023 benefits significantly from near-perfect cabernet franc in the blend. It features 53 percent cabernet franc, 44 percent merlot and 3 percent cabernet sauvignon. The nose opens with deep aromas of sweet black plums, blackberries, cocoa powder, chalk and refined spices. On the palate, juicy, compressed fruit is framed by fine, dusty tannins that lend texture and character to a racy, persistent finish.
