Infinite didn't fail because it moved back towards a more classic style of gameplay. It failed because it released with no content, and it stayed that way for nearly a year.
Campaign evolved failed because it was an inferior, unnecessary, and unwanted remake.
Let’s debate it.
Halo Infinite was 343’s most “classic Halo game” and so was Halo Campaign Evolved. The art-style, the gunplay, the Campaign, a near 180 flip towards Halo 3 and Reach styles (both of Bungie’s greatest accomplishments) from the direction of Halo 5.
Legit, Halo *significantly* went down hill in the last 5 years when it went turned more into the classic direction instead of building on the advanced movement and MP lethality seen in Halo 5.
That is the reality.
Don’t think that just by chance if Activision decides to make an even more classic Halo that game will gain millions of daily players again.
That being said, I strongly want them to make a classic Halo so it jumps into the market that Halo 5 had to compete in 2015-2017.

Too many don’t realize Halo 3 had no formidable competition except Call of Duty in FPS. You either invest your time in COD or Halo 3 in 2007-2009 because everything else was in the cromagnon caveman stages of FPS game development.
Let’s see how many players a classic Halo game retains in the modern era, with established alternative FPS titles out there competing for their playtime.

Halo 4: Completely destroyed the gameplay loop, art style, and narrative consistency. Forge was a step backwards, and the multiplayer was basically dead within a couple months.
MCC: A broken mess at launch that took the better half of a decade to get somewhat playable. Multiple broken promises, games are still a buggy mess, and promised features are still either incomplete or non-existent.
Halo 5: Launched without staple features, lied constantly via marketing, literally one of the worse narratives in Triple A gaming to this day, art style still destroyed, and the main feature was a pay to win lootbox game mode.
Halo Infinite: Another narrative reboot, was basically an early access game for 4 years, yet again more broken promises, no split screen again, launched WITHOUT COOP CAMPAIGN FOR A YEAR, and couldn't commit to any gameplay standard.
Halo Remake: I really don't have to say anything now do I?
TLDR?
Yes. There hasn't been a good Halo game made by 343.

People ragging or celebrating this sucks. Genuinely two games I enjoyed, especially Splitgate. It’s a shame we are in a time where new shooters can never seem to shake people from their main game

GTA VI got announced & trailers dropped

But what if marathon had a pvp mode with respawns and everyone had blue shields and there were some curated load outs and it wasn’t a mode meant to replace extraction but just a place for you to hang out/warm up or just a place to wait for friends to get on.
