Y6 residential lights out day 1, and now we wait, accompanied by a good book.

Happy half term. Finding joy in the small things: starting a new book, a beautiful view, a new coffee spot and the first signs of spring.

I got to the bombshell chapter on a slip road of all places 🙈. So looking forward to finishing it.

What I’m meant to be doing - packing for the weekend at Center Parcs. What I’m doing - choosing accommodation to visit an old work friend in October half term, in Scotland. Teacher work life balance is achievable, a mindset change was needed. #Wellbeing #edutwitter

At my last school, they developed a research based whole class reading method - used from Y1 (alongside phonics based reading groups in KS1). The year 5s sat mock SATs and the 12/15 of the very average year group passed at GDS. Good comprehension outside SATs too.
