Was a dramatic night on Saturday rushing on air to break the news of the WHCD shooting. We rolled for several hours with our colleagues reporting live from inside the venue & returning to our newsroom to recount what happened. Phenomenal work from @CarlNasman and our whole team.
I’m still thinking about the resilience and professionalism of our @BBCNews team amid the chaos of the WHCD shooting. Our DC colleagues reported live in their formal wear all night, helping us piece together exactly what happened. As I anchored hours of rolling coverage, our journalists in the bureau found experts and witnesses. Thank you to @FloydCush and the crew for their tireless work.

Amid all the guff, just this: I am proud to work for BBC News & even prouder to work alongside so many outstanding colleagues. We are not perfect; we must always strive to be better. But in a darkening world, we remain a shaft of light. Worth mulling. All best from Kyiv.

A career milestone for me this weekend: presenting live on @BBCWorld for the first time. I started at the BBC as a freelancer in 2021, and didn’t expect I’d be doing this from Washington just a few years on. Grateful to the brilliant colleagues who’ve supported me. @BBCNews

Exciting moment to have Washington's first touchscreen sequence on-air. It's been a fun project to set up the screen and hopefully will be another tool for the DC channel to give audiences context during a pivotal time in US politics! @BBCWorld

This was astonishing work Iona. A complete masterclass & put the news channel leagues above other output.
Sadly being deployed on a story can suddenly change in a moment. We were 150m away from the attacker and suddenly speaking to eye witnesses at the Trump rally in Butler, PA bbc.com/news/articles/cn4v7v…
