Some people talk about job displacement, others about doom and gloom, and some relabel people as FDE. We are putting our time, money, and effort into skilling up the next generation of builders across this great country. 🇺🇸 The goal is to bring building back through AI.
Applications for the next cohort of the American Tech Fellowship are live now! Apply today to build the future. You know your industry up close and personal. You’ve stood on the polished concrete of the shop floor. Felt the rumble of creation at the build site. Lived the ordered chaos of the hospital during a code. You know the work—and you know the bottlenecks. The paper tidal waves drowning your coworkers. The schedules and routines crying out for automation. The back-office drudgery keeping you and your team at your desks instead of in the action. Your boss may not know or care. But you do—and you’re ready to level up. The American Tech Fellowship wants you. ATF is Palantir’s 12-week virtual boot camp for workers in the load-bearing industries of American life: defense, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, ag, energy, and more. In just over a year, ATF has equipped more than 1,000 Americans from across the country with the tools they need to revolutionize their work. We induct them into the guild, train them on Palantir’s industry-leading AI tools, and then unleash them to rock and roll on real-world problems. We select only the best—and it shows. ATF graduates have gone on to great things. Many have earned new jobs and new missions at Palantir and our customers. Others have founded their own startups. All are building real tools with AI to solve the hardest problems. So if you are on the front lines of American industry and you have the fire to deliver wins for your customers and fellow citizens—we want you. Applications are open now. The cohort begins January 12th. What will you build? jobs.lever.co/palantir/0ccbe…

The sheer fucking hypocrisy surrounding Elon Musk is breathtaking. For decades, billionaire-funded foundations have financed advocacy groups, political campaigns, legal organizations, and efforts to reshape public policy. George Soros is one of the most prominent examples. And somehow that influence is routinely presented as enlightened philanthropy. Then Elon Musk enters politics, spends openly, challenges powerful institutions, and suddenly the entire establishment discovers the dangers of billionaire influence. Give me a fucking break. The man has built companies that launch rockets, connect the world through satellites, manufacture vehicles, and advance technologies with enormous implications for humanity. His long-term ambition is to make civilization multiplanetary. He has a profound personal interest in a future where technological progress remains possible. You can disagree with his politics. But pretending he’s just another billionaire looking for influence ignores the extraordinary scale of what he’s actually trying to accomplish.

Homeschooled in Nassau, the Bahamas, Hannah Cairo learned maths mostly from Khan Academy, finished calculus by 11 and taught herself from graduate textbooks. At 14 she joined the Berkeley Math Circle, and she later took graduate courses at UC Berkeley. In one of them, a homework problem came with an optional extra tied to the Mizohata-Takeuchi conjecture, a 40-year-old question about how overlapping waves concentrate their energy. She built a counterexample and posted it on 10 February 2025, at 17. She then applied to 10 PhD programs, and six rejected her for not having a college degree. The University of Maryland took her. She had no high school diploma. She had just disproved a 40-year-old conjecture.

MIND-BENDING FACT: OpenAI announced Monday that its AI proved the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH) is false — a foundational pillar of theoretical computer science since the 1970s. The ETH holds that NP-complete problems cannot be solved faster than exponential time; cryptographic security, algorithm complexity bounds, and the theoretical ceiling on AI planning have all been calibrated against it being true. One model, running in collaboration with academic partners, disproved it. Simultaneously, OpenAI disclosed it finalized a proof of Yang-Mills existence on October 16 — one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems, each carrying a $1 million Clay Mathematics Institute award. Navier-Stokes was solved September 8. Two Millennium Prize Problems in 49 days. Five remain.

OpenAI just dropped four huge results from its secret internal AI model. 1. Math: It solved the Kakeya conjecture in every dimension. Mathematicians had only cracked small pieces before (2D in 2019, 3D in 2025). 2. Computer science: It proved the Exponential Time Hypothesis is false. Hundreds of research papers assumed it was true. Some really hard problems might be solvable much faster than thought. 3. Physics: It proved the theory of the strong force (QCD)—the force holding atoms' insides together—actually works mathematically. Same for a unified version of the Standard Model. 4. Yang–Mills: Along the way, it proved Yang–Mills existence, part of a $1 million Millennium Prize problem. The math, computer science, and Yang–Mills proofs were all computer double-checked. Top experts are now reviewing everything, including the researchers who proposed the disproved hypothesis and a Nobel Prize winner. OpenAI says it doesn't want academic credit. The model still isn't public 👀

While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…

Sam Altman: AI has fully defeated most of the ways people authenticate today. “Voiceprints as authentication are a crazy thing to still be doing. AI has fully defeated that.” “I am very nervous that we have a significant impending fraud crisis.” “Just because we’re not releasing the technology doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.” “Soon, a video FaceTime will be indistinguishable from reality.” “People are going to have to change the way they verify who they’re actually talking to.”

I’m shook OpenAI voice just got slapped hard I’m in complete disbelief that this new voice model is made by Block and not Elevenlabs et al. I mean Jack literally took it to 11 and solved the turing test for voice. you’ll never know if you’re talking to a machine or human.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

Legacy cell carriers a few months ago: Starlink Mobile will not be a competitor. Their signal won’t even be able to penetrate walls. Legacy cell carriers today: Oh shit, we were wrong. Quick, start lobbying so they can’t compete! SpaceX plans to launch their next-gen Starlink Mobile service, built for 5G speeds, in early 2028.
AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are jointly lobbying the FCC to preserve existing rules as @SpaceX moves closer to launching its own independent cellular network that would compete directly with the three major U.S. carriers. On Oct 20th, reps from all three major U.S. wireless carriers met with FCC officials to push back against proposed changes that would give satellite companies more freedom to offer cellular service. The carriers urged the FCC to: • Block satellite companies from using certain 5G frequencies currently used by wireless carriers. • Keep rules requiring satellite companies to get permission from wireless carriers before using their licensed spectrum. • Allow wireless carriers to maintain control over these agreements, including the ability to end them. • Reconsider proposed interference limits to protect existing cellular networks. Based on all the public communications from these carriers, and the lobbying, they are clearly worried that SpaceX's @Starlink Mobile network is going to be a major competitor to them. Starlink Mobile will become the first network operator to deploy both satellite and terrestrial spectrum. The FCC recently announced that they are considering new rules that could make it easier for satellite companies like SpaceX to offer cellular service without relying as heavily on existing wireless carriers, so this is partly what the three big carriers are fighting against.

NHTSA announced today that they are proposing new rules aimed at removing U.S. federal regulatory barriers for autonomous vehicles without steering wheels or pedals, such as @Tesla's Cybercab. The proposed changes include: • Eliminating requirements for manually operated turn signal controls in vehicles without steering wheels or pedals: "NHTSA has concluded that the self-canceling and manually operated control requirements in the current standard are unnecessary for turn signal operating units that are installed on vehicles without manually operated driving controls." • Allowing autonomous driving systems to control turn signals, hazard lights, and high/low beams without traditional driver-operated switches. • Removing certain dashboard indicator requirements for turn signals and high beams in vehicles without manual driving controls. • Allowing optional cyan-colored exterior lights to indicate when a vehicle is operating autonomously, with standardized requirements for their placement, brightness, and operation. • Eliminating outdated restrictions on vertical headlight arrangements, giving automakers greater design flexibility. • Allowing modern integrated headlights to be tested at manufacturer-specified voltages rather than requiring 12.8 volts. NHTSA says the changes are intended to eliminate unnecessary regulatory barriers, reduce costs, and enable innovation without compromising vehicle safety.
