Enjoyed a great day helping Crans Montana celebrate their 120th anniversary. Was great having my friend Paolo Quirici there to help. What a great club and members. The course and scenery were spectacular.

Enjoy a great day in Kassel where the members played 9 holes with hickory after watching my golf history clinic. From the 36 players, 33 were playing hickory for the first time. Bagpipes and whisky finished the day nicely.

It’s been a pleasure having Australian tour pro Jay McKenzie practicing at my club. Jay is playing in the Dunhill next week and then the DP World Tour Qualifying School. @MarchbankAndrew @jamogolf @mikeclaytongolf

Had a great practice round today with Perry Somers and Brian Gee @GolfVilladEste before the hickory golf masters. A proper old school tradition course and club.

On 12 April 1901, a single letter published in Golf Illustrated set in motion the formation of the Association. Within months, JH Taylor, James Braid and Harry Vardon brought that vision to life, establishing an organisation built to support, represent and advance the professional. 125 years later, that Association remains as strong and relevant as ever. From 59 Members and 11 Assistants to a global community of more than 8,500 Members and Trainees across 80 countries, The PGA continues to thrive thanks to the dedication, expertise and commitment of its Members, past and present. Part 5 A quote Richard uses in the book“ All great courses reveal more the second time round”. Could be used to describe his writing, it is safe to say that he has revealed more of his soul this time as well.

Part 4 Common grounds has a different look, the grey cover and black and white photography give the book a more sober feel, the exquisitely eloquent prose providing all the colour required.

Part 3.The layout of the book links it to Darwin’s classic “The Golf courses of the British Isles”. The Harry Rountree paintings being replaced by superb colour photography. I finished it in a couple of days and couldn’t wait to get stuck into Common grounds.

Part 2. Grass routes is a beautifully written letter to a lost love ( golf)and is about re-finding an old passion for a once loved game. Richard’s description of the special places that re-awakens his passion often have a Darwinian feel.
