To the ends of the earth just two minutes.
I'm at Fat POS. Here Is My Story. I'm here to talk about the elephant in the room: me. I'm a 30-year-old male who has been fat for most of his childhood and adult life. I want to warn others and encourage them to make changes before they end up in the same situation as me. Guys, being fat is not okay. It has led to a host of problems for me, including high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, dating issues, and diabetes. I can tell you right now that while diabetes runs on one side of my family (my mom's side, with my grandma, grandpa, and uncle all having it), I still believe my lifestyle choices played a role in my developing it. Here's how I got here. I grew up on a farm in the Midwestern United States. I was corn-fed and highly active in sports, but I was always big and muscular. My father's side of the family was "fat-phobic" and always said I was too big, but my mom stuck up for me and let me eat as much as I wanted as a kid. I was 270 lbs at 6'2" as a junior in high school. I wrestled, played golf and football, participated in Boy Scouts, and hunted a lot, too. You could say I was active. Fast-forward to college, and I ballooned to 317 lbs during my freshman year. I decided to do something about it and dropped 117 lbs by eating paleo. I joined the National Guard because I had always wanted to be a soldier. I finished basic training weighing 210 lbs, with a fit, muscular physique. As college went on, and later during grad school, I started eating worse and became depressed about my job prospects with my degree. I began eating more and gained weight until I was back up to 275 lbs. Eventually, I couldn't pass my military physical and was discharged honorably, thank God. I became even more depressed as my weight climbed to an astounding 330 lbs, and I attempted suicide. My cat rubbed against my leg just before I was going to pull the trigger, and I stopped. Yep. Pets save lives. So there I was: poor, fat, depressed, and looking for a better way of life. My parents invited me back to the farm so I could save money, and I accepted. I found a better job that allowed me to live at home and started working out again. I lifted weights and got back down to 265 lbs. Then I hurt my back while attempting a new personal record. My weight skyrocketed again, eventually reaching 375 lbs. I moved out, thanking my parents for all their help, but I kept eating like crap.

Her name was Sarah. We had been best friends for almost five years. She knew my weaknesses, my dreams, and the things I never told anyone else. Whenever I had a bad day, she was the first person I called. Whenever she was upset, I was the person she came to. People often asked if we were dating. We always laughed and said, "We're just best friends." But the truth was, somewhere along the way, my feelings had changed. I started noticing the little things about her. The way she smiled when she was happy. The way she remembered the smallest details about me. The way she could make an ordinary day feel special. I knew I was falling in love with her. The problem was that I didn't know if she felt the same way. One evening, we were sitting together on a bench outside her house. She looked at me and asked, "Why haven't you found yourself a girlfriend yet?" I laughed. "Maybe I'm waiting for the right person." She smiled. And what does the right person look like? I looked at her for a moment. "She looks a lot like you." Her smile slowly disappeared. Are you serious? I took a deep breath. Sarah, I've been trying to hide this for months. I don't see you as just my best friend anymore. I think I've fallen in love with you. She remained silent. For the first time in five years, I didn't know what she was thinking. Then she looked away and said: "Do you know how long I've been waiting for you to say that? I stared at her. "What? She laughed softly. "I fell in love with you a long time ago. I was just afraid you didn't feel the same way." That evening, everything changed. The woman who had been my best friend for five years became the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. And I learned something I will never forget

I thought about the young woman who had once waited beside the window, hoping to hear his car pull into the driveway. That woman had disappeared a long time ago. I have spent years learning how to live without hating you," I told him. "But that doesn't mean you can walk back into our lives and expect everything to return to the way it was. I understand. No, Daniel. You are only beginning to understand. I told him that forgiveness, if it ever came, would not erase twenty years of absence. He could not demand trust, instant affection, or a place in our family simply because he regretted his choices. Emily agreed to consider speaking with him again, but only at her own pace. Michael wasn't ready. He told his father he needed time and asked him not to contact him until he was ready. Daniel nodded through his tears. Before leaving, he turned to me. I know I don't deserve another chance. I looked him in the eyes. Perhaps you don't. But that isn't the question you should be asking. What should I ask?

Every morning for nineteen years, Damaris Quill opened her shop at 6:30 and placed a cup of tea beside the empty chair near the window. Customers assumed the chair belonged to her late husband. They were half right. The chair had belonged to a man named Soren, who had disappeared from the town before Damaris married anyone. He had been her business partner, her closest friend, and the person who taught her how to repair old clocks. When he vanished, he left behind a shop full of unpaid invoices and a message on her answering machine. “I'll explain everything when I can.” Damaris had never deleted it.

Denzel Washington might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of action stars, but when he plays a dangerous man, he makes every confrontation count. Here are his 5 best fight scenes, ranked. 5. Eli vs. the Roadside Gang — The Book of Eli (2010) Eli faces a group of armed men who underestimate him. What makes this scene stand out is his calmness and precision. He doesn’t waste movements, and the contrast between his quiet nature and sudden violence makes him intimidating. 4. Robert McCall vs. the Russian Mob — The Equalizer (2014) McCall’s confrontations with the mob show how he studies his opponents and uses his surroundings to his advantage. Rather than relying on brute strength, he calculates his moves and strikes when the opportunity comes. It establishes him as someone you should never underestimate. 3. John Creasy vs. the Kidnappers — Man on Fire (2004) Creasy’s pursuit of those responsible for kidnapping the girl he protects is driven by pure rage. His confrontations are not glamorous or playful; they’re personal and ruthless. Denzel makes the violence feel like the result of a man who has lost everything and has nothing left to fear. 2. Robert McCall vs. the Home Invaders — The Equalizer 2 (2018) McCall’s ability to remain composed while facing dangerous opponents makes this confrontation memorable. He relies on experience, timing, and precision rather than flashy martial arts. The tension comes from watching him take control of a situation that could turn deadly in seconds. 1. Robert McCall vs. Teddy’s Men — The Equalizer (2014) McCall’s final confrontation with the men working for Teddy is the perfect showcase of his character. He turns an ordinary hardware store into a battlefield, using tools, traps, and careful planning to take down his opponents. The creativity and methodical execution make the sequence unforgettable. For me, the hardware-store showdown takes the top spot because McCall doesn’t fight like a conventional action hero. He studies the situation, prepares the environment, and finishes the job with terrifying efficiency.
