The journey for the quest to renew our social contract with Ndị Abia took off yesterday as we formally flagged off the Labour Party campaigns at the Umuahia Township Stadium. The occasion also featured the inauguration of the Labour Party Advisory Council, chaired by the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu.
I am grateful to the party leadership, our distinguished party candidates at the national and state levels, our supporters, our fathers of faith and all distinguished guests who joined us for the important occasion. As we begin this campaign journey, I urge all political parties, candidates and their supporters to embrace peace, civility and issue-based engagements. Elections should be about ideas, policies and the future we envision for our people, not personal attacks, intimidation or violence. Democracy thrives when differing opinions are respected and every political group is allowed to exercise its legitimate rights.
Our message to Abians is clear: the work of rebuilding our State must continue. Over the past 41 months, we have taken deliberate steps to address longstanding challenges, improve infrastructure, strengthen public institutions, expand economic opportunities and restore confidence in governance.
The task ahead is to consolidate these gains, deepen development across all sectors and position Abia to take advantage of emerging economic opportunities. I have also reiterated that no opposition party or its supporters should be intimidated, harassed or prevented from carrying out legitimate political activities. Public facilities must remain accessible to all political parties in accordance with established regulations. We must demonstrate that political competition and peaceful coexistence can go hand in hand.
I thank the members of our newly inaugurated Advisory Council for accepting this responsibility and look forward to their contributions to the party's success across the State.
As we look towards the February 6, 2027 election, I invite Abians to engage with our programmes, examine our record, study our manifesto and participate actively in the democratic process.
LABOUR PARTY! FORWARD EVER, BACKWARD NEVER!

Today, we officially signed a landmark partnership agreement with Sterling Bank!
Sterling Bank is committing ₦60 million in prizes for the 2027 South East Mathematics & Science Olympiad.
In addition, the bank is committing ₦24 million to our National Mathematics Quiz, where outstanding students will receive ₦1 million in prizes every month.
But it gets even better!
Our star students will now have access to internship opportunities at Sterling Bank, while winners of the South East Mathematics & Science Olympiad will receive an additional one-year scholarship.
What a bank! What a commitment to the future of Nigerian children!
We will continue to double down on our efforts to build the greatest workforce in Africa by 2036.
We are deliberately investing in the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers.
And I have just one request for everyone reading this:
Open an account with Sterling Bank. Encourage your family members, friends, and colleagues to bank with Sterling.
When a bank makes this level of commitment to the education and future of our children, it deserves our support.
This is the kind of corporate investment that can transform a generation.
Sterling Bank is not just banking on Nigerians. It is investing in the future of Nigeria.
Thank you, Sterling Bank. Our children will remember this investment.

Christmas is coming; instead of giving discount, I'm thinking of tailoring clothes for 10-30 men that genuinely cannot get a good outfit for themselves for free if November looks good.
Trying to pitch the idea to my fabric supplier to sell fabrics at discounted price.
Somewhere, Someone looking for who can bring order to its operations, support its team, manage the details, and figure things out when things don’t go as planned.
I could be that person.
I’m based in Nigeria, with 5+ years of experience working remotely with international clients and organizations.
I’m used to collaborating across time zones and working in real time with teams abroad. I can accommodate EST/CST hours and I’m looking for a stable, full-time, long-term remote opportunity.
My experience covers Administrative Support, Operations Coordination, HR Support, Data Management, Research, Documentation, and Project Support.
I’m resourceful, adaptable, quick to learn new systems, and always looking for ways to improve how I work. I bring experience to the table, and I’m never too proud to learn something new.
I’m open to roles such as Administrative Support Assistant, Executive Assistant, Administrative and Operations Coordinator, Project Coordinator, and Virtual Assistant.
I know what I can bring to a team. Now I want to connect with an organization willing to look beyond location and hire the right person.
If you work for someone that hires globally, have landed a remote role from Nigeria, or know an organization I should look into, please share your recommendations.
I’d genuinely appreciate the connection, and a repost could help this reach the right person.

“Igbos who will vote Obi in Lagos in 2027 will be double the 2023 number.”
— Chekwas Okorie.
He is right. 2023 was just the beginning. This time, nobody is staying home.
If you are in Lagos and you have your PVC, this election is on you. Go and vote.
Twice the turnout. Same result. Better Nigeria.
If you live in Lagos and you have your PVC, this is your signal. Do not sit this one out.
When Alex Otti took over Abia State on May 29, 2023, many people said he would fail. They said Abia was too broken, too indebted, too damaged.
Three years later, even his critics are asking: what is he using to do this?
This is a man who came from the bank, not from the usual godfather system. A former Diamond Bank CEO who used private sector discipline to run a public state. No noise. No jamboree. Just results.
He met a state where workers and pensioners were owed for years. Where Aba was drowning in dirt and flood. Where roads were a memory.
And this is what he has done:
414 road projects completed, 864.12 km across all 17 LGAs, plus 82 more roads under construction — including Port Harcourt Road in Aba by Julius Berger, the 6-lane Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard in Umuahia, and Omenuko Bridge.
Debt cut by over 70%, from N191.2 Billion inherited in 2023 to about N48.4 Billion by 2025, without borrowing recklessly.
Salaries and pensions now paid on or before the 28th of every month. Over N40 Billion spent to clear salary and pension arrears, and gratuity payments of N61.8 Billion for retirees from 2001-2023 now started.
Free and Compulsory Basic Education over 300,000 new pupils enrolled in public schools.
5,394 teachers recruited in 2025, another 4,075 in August 2026.
277 healthcare facilities retrofitted, 821 health workers recruited, over 270,000 residents now on Abia Health Insurance Scheme.
Over 10,000 solar streetlights installed, Electric Buses now transporting over 386,000 passengers, IGR moved from N14.67 Billion in 2022 to N66.86 Billion in 2025.
He abolished pensions for former governors and deputies, the first governor in Nigeria to do that.
Abia today is no longer the laughing stock. It is now the reference point. The world is now sleeping in Abia, as his CPS said.
The most interesting thing about Otti? He says he will not be a godfather. He says Abians will choose his successor.
Whether you support him or not, one fact stands: Abia has shown that good governance is possible when leadership is intentional.
We wish His Excellency good health, strength, and wisdom to finish what he started. May Abia continue to prosper, and may other governors in Igboland learn that serving the people is not magic, it is discipline.

You see how quickly we forgot these two where used to put us in the mess we are in today, they are probably in some island enjoying their millions of dollars whilst we wait for the next group to be used. Nna mehn.
World Poverty Day: Why Nigeria Should Have Declared Today a Public Holiday
Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Sadly, Nigeria has become a symbol of the global poverty crisis. The rising poverty rate, from 40.1 per cent in 2019 to 56.2 per cent in 2023 and an estimated 63 per cent in 2026, shows how a country can move progressively backwards while those in authority appear unconcerned.
Millions of Nigerians are now struggling to live, to afford food, and access healthcare. Yet, government narratives often paint a different picture. What meaning does economic growth have when citizens are getting poorer, hungrier, and more insecure? Progress must be measured by improvements in people’s lives.
As poverty deepens, the government should genuinely show concern. Perhaps today should have been declared a public holiday, not for celebration, but for national reflection on how a country so richly endowed with human and natural resources has allowed poverty to overcome it.
Poverty is not Nigeria’s destiny. With competent leadership, prudent management of public resources, investment in education and healthcare, and support for agriculture and small businesses, we can reverse this trend.
A new Nigeria where no citizen goes to bed hungry and where every citizen lives in dignity is POssible and OK. -PO
