Recently, I had the opportunity to grab a quick bite at Sunset & Main, a family-owned café run by Phil and Dana Briggs, while spending some time along Main Street in historic New Market in Frederick County.
From local restaurants to the antique shops the town is known for, New Market is another reminder of what makes Maryland's Main Streets so special!

13 months was an ambitious timeline to build Linganore Creek Elementary School—but we got it done, thanks to extraordinary work by Frederick County Public Schools, Frederick County Government, and an incredibly dedicated construction team.
This new elementary school will help relieve stress and overcrowding in the Oakdale community, allowing Linganore Creek’s 800+ new students to receive the world-class education they deserve.
ALT If we don't get our schools right, everything else becomes details. Linganore Creek will relieve significant stress and school overcrowding for the surrounding Oakdale community. Our most important assets are the people we are here to uplift in the first place: Our young people.

It was great to join the Mount Airy community to recognize Mayor Larry Hushour for his years of dedicated service and leadership.
Mayor Hushour has spent his time in office putting his community first, and I’ve been grateful to work alongside him from partnership with the Maryland Municipal League to passing Mason’s Law.
We also marked America’s 250th anniversary by sealing a time capsule filled with pieces of Mount Airy’s history (and some LG frisbees!) to be opened 50 years from now. A special evening celebrating public service, community, and the generations who will carry Mount Airy forward.

Today, we take a moment to remember Marylanders who lost their lives to an overdose, those who grieve loved ones lost to substance use disorders, and those who still battle every day to achieve lasting recovery.
We’re seeing historic drops in overdoses across the state, but we know the work isn't done. We must make sure every Marylander has the support they need on their recovery journeys.
