During the filming of Carry On Sergeant in 1958, Bob Monkhouse had a difficult relationship with actor and first Doctor Who William Hartnell. Hartnell was initially cold and rude after discovering Monkhouse was earning £1,500—a substantial amount at the time. When Hartnell learned that Bob had recently lost his father, who had disowned & treated him poorly for years, his attitude changed completely, and he became exceptionally kind to him.

“Moving, bruising… disquieting” is how @radiotimes describes #AmericasVeterans, @Deeyah_Khan’s new doc for @ITV’s #Exposure. To dehumanise the enemy, soldiers dehumanise themselves. The consequences are inhumane.
