This shocked me
#Commanders RB Bill Croskey-Merritt is much more than a sophomore 7th-round back. He was one of the best players in the NFL at doing EXACTLY what David Blough wants him to do
I'm not exaggerating. Take a look for yourself👇

"If you asked me to pick the heir to Fred Warner today – I'd say Sonny Styles."
"This guy might be the best linebacker once Fred Warner retires."
Much more on the Commanders rookie with @Foxworth24 @CKravitz17 and @Nate_Tice:
Head coach says they’re looking to find the right combination of linemen
GM says they’re standing pat
What will happen? Find out in the next episode!

Not sure how the #Commanders don’t make another change to their starting offensive line on the back of these comments from Dan Quinn
This part might be reaching, but I found his use of the term “pocket presence” intriguing. That’s normally a term you use in the context of quarterbacks, and I wonder if he’s using it to explain some plays where Jayden might’ve gotten off a read or made up his mind too quickly

Adam Peters also mentioned Jayden in his comments today xitter.cf/JayDanielsMVP/status/2…
#Commanders GM Adam Peters on the possibility of shuffling players at O-line:
“This last game we didn’t protect as well as we needed to. I think on the average the guys have done a pretty good job. I think the numbers would show that as well…in terms of moving forward, there hasn’t been any discussion of shuffling anybody or doing anything like that. We have to find ways to get Jayden a little more time when he needs it…”

This interception is not Drake Maye’s fault and 100% on Eli Raridon. Maye throws a perfect ball but Raridon doesn’t adjust and block out the receiver. That’s a TD 99/100 times if the tight end adjusts the way he should.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Drake Maye threw an underthrown pass intended for Eli Raridon that was intercepted by Bears LB D'Marco Jackson in the end zone. Maye and coach Mike Vrabel said afterward that Maye wished he had the throw back.

Revisiting some #Commanders defensive stats...
Brock Purdy when he WASN'T blitzed:
15-18, 178 yards, +0.55 EPA/pass, 1 TD, 5% pressure rate
Brock Purdy when he WAS blitzed:
6-11, 86 yards, -0.64 EPA/pass, 2 sacks, 35.7% pressure rate
The Commanders' first and second half gameplans were entirely different with regard to how frequently they blitzted.
This was my favorite play of the day: a hot blitz (six-man rush with three deep and two underneath defenders) where everyone on the field does their job
-Payne, Cross, and Tuttle all get pressure
-The three deep defenders all move fluidly together and cap the verticals (Amos specifically doesn't get too greedy by chasing the crosser)
-LBs get depth and Sonny gets eyes onto the receiver coming his way to shut him down
A combination of airtight coverage AND having too much pressure to block
This is and will always be a pressure-based defense. Daronte Jones can't lost that identity
#RaiseHail
He will play in only eight of his first 26 career games and could still miss more beyond that
The #Chiefs are placing LT Josh Simmons on IR due to a bulging disc in his lower back that has not progressed as the team hoped.
Simmons has not played this season and will now miss at least another four games.
In case you weren't aware, former interim head coach and new #Commanders assistant Steve Wilks was the 49ers' defensive coordinator during Adam Peters' final year with the team
That is all

Sonny Styles CAN'T STOP MAKING PLAYS!
I raved about him in my new #Commanders film breakdown on YouTube! Plus, I talked about the highs and lows of Jayden Daniels' performance, David Blough, and much more
