My initial thought about Flávio Bolsonaro fleeing to US was not his exposure but mostly because Trump needs to keep him quiet about what Trump, Bannon and perhaps Musk did to try to elect him.

Two pictures emerge from this vote.
On one hand, the majority of humanity once again takes a stand against the genocidal US embargo.
On the other, the number of countries opposing it has fallen precipitously.
In 2022, I watched this same vote play out live from Caracas. Then, only two countries voted against: the US and Israel. Two abstained: Ukraine and Brazil.
This year, the US appears to have strong-armed another 40 countries to either vote against or abstain. This is one barometer of the dramatic corrosion of political sovereignty that we are witnessing as empire enters its long decline.

📷✍️NEW REPORTING SERIES📷✍️: “How to Build a General Strike: Dispatches from Ports Mobilizing for the October 30 International Day of Action”
So stoked to launch this new series, in collaboration with @ProgIntl's "The Wire," to report on the fast-approaching dockworkers’ strike on October 30 that now spans more than 100 ports in 17 countries across four continents.
I’ve been in Italy with the dockworkers, organizers, and flotilla activists getting ready to disrupt global supply chains on October 30 by refusing to load the weapons and cargo that make Israel’s genocide and U.S.-Israel wars possible.
The journalistic approach here is “workers’ inquiry," where workers report on their local conditions, general strategies, and political difficulties, in their own words, for workers everywhere.
First profile is on Livorno, where, as luck would have it, the @gbsumudflotilla’s Italian delegation was launching a solidarity action when I got in town. I sat down with Giovanni Ceraolo, national ports coordinator for Unione Sindacale di Base (@usbsindacato); Simone D’Aversa, a founder of Gruppo Autonomo Portuali (GAP); and Luca Poggi of GSF Italia.
Video report here, written dispatch below👇

NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions.
More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves.
In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety.
The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action.
In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties.
The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.”
I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

BREAKING: Sen. Chris Murphy was briefed on highly classified military planning on Iran to restart the war after the midterms, calling the plans "insane."
"I will just say this: their plan is insane. It will lead to devastating escalation and the likely destruction of our commitment to the rule of law," he said at the Middle East Institute event.
The plan "will be devastating for our security interests," he adds.

💔 @KlonnyPin_Gosch @Tracking_Power , I’m asking you from Gaza to please help me with our children’s football project. Support has stopped, and I urgently need $500 to help these children, some of whom have been injured playing football in the streets because they have no safe place to play.
I dream of giving them football kits, a safe place to play, and a reason to smile again. Please, don’t let their dreams die. Where is the world? Where is humanity when Gaza’s children need help? 😢⚽🇵🇸
Please support us or share our campaign. Every act of kindness matters.

For over a year, this campaign has redefined what's possible in Ohio's politics. We've battled the two-party system, knocked tens of thousands of doors, gathered 15,000 signatures to get on the ballot, and we've made socialism a conversation at every dinner table.

The billionaires have spent over $400 million in the Ohio Senate race. For reference: it would cost at least $150million to end homelessness in Ohio. Across the US, billionaires have poured more than $11billion into elections– but not towards solving the crises of this system.
Under capitalism, the rich and their SuperPACs spend their money on politicians while our needs still go unmet. That’s why we’re fighting for a socialist system where workers control political power, not the billionaires.

The Israeli military is expanding its genocide in Gaza to all of Palestine. Last Friday, the Israeli government ordered the total closure of Al-Khalil, also called Hebron, and the entirety of the occupied West Bank where Al-Khalil is.
Since then, it has forcibly displaced more than 3,972 Palestinians from their homes and arrested at least 85 people.

Roughly 60% of all civilian casualties have been women & children.
Saudi Arabia is increasingly targeting civilian neighbourhoods as the war progresses.
Since 2015, the estimates range that Saudi airstrikes have killed between 9,000-20,000 civilians.
The UN says that these strikes are the leading cause of direct deaths in the war. Hundreds of thousands were also killed due to the Saudi blockade.

Cuba has a higher literacy rate than the United States.
It has a longer life expectancy than many countries far wealthier than it.
It produced a medical system capable of sending doctors to dozens of countries, including some that sanctioned it.
It did all of this under 66 years of economic blockade.
Now imagine what it might have built without the blockade.
The people who imposed the blockade have imagined this too.
That is why the blockade continued for 66 years.
Not because Cuba was failing.
Because Cuba was, in specific and inconvenient ways, succeeding.
And a Cuba that succeeded under its own system was more dangerous to the argument than a Cuba that failed.
The blockade was not punishment for failure.
It was prevention of success.
