This month, @GAIAUS_CAN awarded $40,000 in microfunds to 16 grassroots organizations advancing zero waste solutions and environmental justice across the US. Residents of Armourdale, organized by Rise4EJ and supported by GAIA, stopped Reworld (formerly Covanta) from pushing through a polluting waste-processing facility in their neighborhood. After months of pressure, the company withdrew its permit. The community remains vigilant, and GAIA continues to provide organizing, media, and technical support to ensure residents stay protected.
