The Anglos are right about this one, dot is the better decimal separator.

Trying to do some banking errands in a French e-banking system and it's a complete nightmare. You really don't have to go far from the Nordics for good IT services to end and complete chaos to take over.

Konrad Adenauer famously said that Asia begins at the Elbe, but I think we must add that Africa begins in Schleswig-Holstein.

Been exposed to enough AI generated text that I no longer parse it as annoying, but as a source of great technical knowledge.

The Law of Jante is one of the best things about Scandinavia. Makes life a lot smoother when people aren't trying to status flex each other all the time.
when im in sweden i present myself with "i work in IT" any other explanation could label me "low status", since it would show im unaware of the norm of not being allowed to say anything that could imply that you are trying to win this is the end state of anti culture

I love left-dislocation, Persian has it and Chinese too. One of my favorite grammatical features.
Apparently this is a very common sentence structure in Nigeria. I’d like to know why

I find it hard to believe that an experienced software dev would struggle to find a job in this economy unless they're actively resisting using AI. But maybe it's different in other countries.
This hacker news thread is absolutely heart-breaking. Whoever thinks “humans will find a way” ought I read it.

I'm sure there will be a time when AI is good enough to replace ~everyone, but we're not there yet.

Leading motivation for learning Chinese right now is that it sounds really bizarre when a White guy speaks it.

There are a litany of bad Nate Silver takes you can dunk on him over, but for whatever reason chuds always seem to choose him giving Trump an almost 1/3 chance of winning 2016, which was a significantly higher chance than any other mainstream source gave Trump

But it can get every FYP rightist to suck you off on the timeline.
You want a blackpill? A trillion dollars can’t find a man a decent woman in 2026.

I could ruin so many startups. Someone should hire me to do this.
Actually the chronically negative you can identify in hiring and avoid The real damage to startups is done by 'Smart Skeptics' Who are smart, sound even smarter than they are, are great at raising objections, can hold great intellectual conversations, have a lot of anecdotal evidence about everything. But can't execute/move metrics/ solve hard problems even if their life depended on it, because they are skeptical about everything. And they dissuade the believers as well. Avoid them like a plague
