Yesterday, June 27, Alon Confino, my dear friend, brilliant scholar, and true humanist, passed away following a difficult illness. This is a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and the entire scholarly community, as well as to me personally. May his memory be a blessing.

German history Twitter: if you were going to assign one *recent* monograph on Nazi Germany to graduate students what would it be? I should say that I have a preference for first books because I like to use grad seminars to reconstruct how an argument is made.

Anyone with interests in memory studies needs to bookmark the landmark commemoration event yesterday in the @Bundestag which formally acknowledged gay, lesbian, and trans victims of the Third Reich and the continued use of Nazi laws in the postwar period.
