Using big words when small ones will do can make you appear less intelligent One thing got me thinking about GAA listening to this is the idea of a team glossary, nothing complex but how often do you explain your words and meanings to teams or do you just assume they’ll know?

This in consideration of Maurice’s tweet It’s easy to say hindsight but if the data’s there in real time the correct decision can be made 71% on KO retention! MC should have forced the last kick short xitter.cf/m_brosnan/status/21147…
Game management in Gaelic Football has changed. Keeping possession isn’t enough. Score value. Shot selection. Kickout strategy. Time remaining. Should you concede a 1-pointer to protect against a 2? Contest KOs or give up possession Data turns opinion into informed decisions.

Can’t take anything away from the scores Mochtas an example of how teams should be committing to one’s this late in the game Someone usually has to make that mistakes so others can learn
Injury-time of the Mochtas replay defeat to Newtown Blues via @clubber 🎥 Conditions atrocious, clock in the red, the Villagers are 3 up and on the verge of a 1st ever title. The Blues break their hearts though to win a 24th title, as clutch Ciarán Downey decides it. #GAA

This makes for interesting analysis particularly when combined with the expected weather forecast The wind is expect across the pitch which will make two pointers inviting but difficult Mfelt change approach and go with the risker style? Newbridge comfortable on 2pt attempts
Have a listen or read the stats preview on the Derry SFC final between Newbridge and Magherafelt darrendevine92.substack.com/…

Anyone at any of the Ryan cup games last night with an opinion on how the trial rules went? Haven’t heard any noise about it at all today on here

Is it pre-season yet? Used the excuse all year I’m too busy to start this! Now it looks like I won’t have time to finish it!

St Enda’s of Antrim cantered to a huge win in the intermediate final. Antrims intermediate championship is weak with at least 4 Junior teams making up the numbers but that’s a massive win! If they can manage to keep that team together they’ll do much better in SNR than before

A headline doesn’t tell a story A player doesn’t make the best coach A statesman can be any punter An analyst closes the gap When the lines are clear the story is better

Two games I watched yesterday! Armagh and Antrim SFC finals So it’s season over for the counties pov What can be done to move Antrim closer to Armagh? What can counties do in the off-season to improve and develop? Does the issue sit with volunteer mindset?

In Armagh today, bumped into a coach, chatting away He tells me they have the lads back in the gym from last week…. A player from Down told me earlier that his teams also back collective sessions in the gym! Ffs! Come on here! Go play padel

St Brids win their first Antrim Senior Football championship They’ve won a lot under age recently so it could be the first of many You’d be disappointed from an Antrim perspective that the quality of football at times was very poor! How does the county improve quality?

Today in the Athletic grounds, the Wind 💨 is virtually null! That makes for a very fair game of football! I haven’t seen Killeavy play but looking at the end of League numbers they’d a great balance across the team! Cross with 3 of Armaghs top players Set to be a cracker 🚀

I was ask critical of St Enda’s (not really the team itself just the format of the competition) the last time they won this championship But they’ve been the best team in Div 2 this year and deserve their victories

Not surprised a soccer coach has been brought in It makes sense and Gaelic football coaching has a lot to learn xitter.cf/gaelicstatsapp/status/…
Two weeks after his appointment, Éamonn Fitzmaurice has his Galway Football mgt team together - some interesting moves; Dave Morris stays on. UEFA Pro Licence holder Lisa Fallon joins as coach, Kevin Johnson, Gareth Bradshaw & Gary O'Donnell all fresh voices around the squad #GAA
