Why can players shoot so well in practice, but not in games? Simple answer: under pressure, those mechanics can fail you The complexities and extraneous movements that work in practice don’t always hold up when pressure, fatigue, defense and movement enter the equation.

Ever Wonder Why You Shoot Differently Outdoors? “Work on your ball handling, work on conditioning- don’t work on your shot outdoors.” You will make adjustments for variables you aren’t even aware of. 🎙️ @CharlieWalterTV @lo_warriors

Jalen Brunson says 30 intentional minutes can beat 2 hours in the gym, and explains the NBA was never his goal because he was consumed with just trying to get a little bit better everyday “People say, ‘Oh, I was in the gym for two hours today.’ Like, okay, what did you do in the gym?’ You can get a much more difficult and better workout in 30 to 40 minutes versus just being in the gym BS’ing for two hours.” “While it was about consistency, it was about being precise. There was intent to everything you did. It was definitely commitment. I loved going out and working out. I loved going and playing pickup.” “When we lived in Virginia, we lived in Charlottesville Virginia when my dad worked at UVA. I would go play at the rec center with college kids. We would play pickup, I’m playing against older people and I’m playing well. I’m not thinking, I’m going to the NBA. The NBA was never talked about. No. I’m just trying to get better. It was all about going to college.” “There were baby steps. Yes there were long term goals, but I’m focused on the short term goals. Baby steps, one step at a time. People just want to jump straight there, and they get disappointed because they didn’t enjoy their journey. I enjoyed every step of my journey. Enjoy your steps.”

Why does Oso Ighodaro’s one-arm shooting work better for him? “Because he’s taking it [the guide hand] off so early, he’s in essence shooting with one arm. There’s less variability and less moving parts" @PHNX_Suns #PhoenixSuns

Listening to @GaloMethod explain this and then going back and watching Oso's form was eye-opening. The best part? Galo said it's something that CAN be fixed and improved upon with the right tweaks.

It feels like the NBA's ownership landscape just keeps changing. Should that raise any concerns in the Valley? (No) We'll get into that before welcoming Shot-Making Specialist @GaloMethod to today's @PHNX_Suns show. Fun one on deck this Friday!

This is honestly a fascinating disposition about how big men can and should continue to impact the game from beyond the arc. I'd love to unpack this more. Way to get my brain going on a Friday afternoon Roger!
Breaking down why I believe bigs have the potential to be the most dangerous shooters on the court 👀🌲@lockedonwizards🎙️ “I'm absolutely convinced that guys that height and above should be the most accurate, most consistent, and most prolific 3-point shooters in the game.”
