“At the beginning, the work can be very lonely.”
Long before she served as Vice President of The Gambia, Dr. Isatou Touray was working with women and communities to challenge a practice many had been taught to accept as inevitable.
A survivor of FGM herself, she helped establish @GamcotrapG and spent years travelling to rural communities, creating spaces where women could speak freely and bringing together youth, religious scholars and traditional leaders.
In 2014, the @UNTrustFundEVAW began supporting GAMCOTRAP’s long-standing advocacy and community-based rights education.
30 Years. 30 Voices of Change. This is Dr. Isatou Touray's.

🎉 Mission Accomplished!
We're excited to announce the successful installation of Sailingo-1 (Eagle-1), the first reference-grade monitor in #Gambia, at the National Environment Agency's monitoring site in Kanifing. This achievement is a key milestone in our Clean Air Initiative.
A special thank you to MetOne Instruments, the United States EPA (@EPA), and especially the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (@UChiEnergy) Clean Air Award for believing in us and supporting our mission to close the air quality data gaps in The Gambia.
With the addition of Sailingo-1 and our nationwide network of low cost air sensors from @IQAir , we are now well-equipped to monitor air pollution effectively and shape policies aimed at establishing interim targets for the country.
We look forward to seeing how the data from Sailingo-1 and our network will drive positive change, enhancing the lives and health of all #Gambians.

At the heart of everything is family, there can be no equality in the society without equality in the family. Women and girls globally are affected by discriminatory family laws and practices, which consequently have multiple intersecting impacts in all other areas of their lives.
