The Brides, a kitsch-punk band out of Ontario, played an incredible set at the Underground Scream in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. They did so despite Beverly, the gorgon drummer, having a mildly difficult time keeping her snakes under the band’s trademark Elsa Lancaster wigs.

Pixie duels, while quite awe-inspiring to watch with the flashing blades and aerial acrobatics, are vicious events. The fighters never battle to the death. Rather the goal is to de-wing, shredding gossamer appendages and dooming the loser to a life of eternal walking.
