Definitely an oversimplification, especially with how pop-centric metal has become. Almost all of the 2010s post hardcore, metal core, etc bands are trying to sound like Sleep Token or incorporate pop elements to make their music more appealing. I've seen very few metal bands
Yup. The reason metal lost support from radio, MTV, and the mainstream was that its musicians couldn’t be controlled. They crafted albums, not just hits, and their music took more effort to record and produce properly.
It was much easier for the music industry to manufacture artists who were easier to control, with a simpler recording process, and shove them down people’s throats for greater profits. And they still do it to this day.
But metal will ALWAYS stand because of the passion, the craftsmanship of its artists, and the dedication of its fans. Not because of “hits.” 🤘

I think there's a middle ground here where people can be more lenient about people with BPD acting certain ways but also being firm in their boundaries when those boundaries are crossed by someone with BPD

I think this discourse has opened up an important discussion where we need to face that we have some obligation to help those with mental illnesses and not dump them at the first sign of trouble, but ALSO with the fact that some people with mental illnesses can harm others
