ALT International Day of the Nurse 2021 "Nursing is the only job that can make you feel every emotion in one shift and never two days are the same" - Gillian Davies, Diabetic Eye Screening Nurse
ALT I am a specialist Diabetes Eye Screening Nurse which means I work autonomously on a daily basis within the area of Moray and parts of Aberdeenshire. I see patients living with Diabetes at a clinic I run with the booking, triaging and grading done by the team in Aberdeen. I studied at the University of Dundee (Fife Campus) and did my training between Kirkcaldy, Dundee and other settings within Fife. I did various shifts across surgical and medical wards until I settled in a position within a Hospice delivering Palliative care. I was interested in this role initially because it was such a change from the post I was in at the time. Working in varied locations appealed to me I love my colleagues they are some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Although we work separately on a daily basis, we are such a close team.
