(contd) "Tribalism and victimization doesn't help; survivors must band together."

Excellent point: what if survivor groups banded together and spoke to each other?
Jerry: "We need to network survivors and develop leaders. Action has to come from the ground up, not just elites."
Eugenie: "We need to improve education about genocide in schools. The textbooks don't have current history."
Mark:"We're trying to build the first permanent anti-genocide constituency." Visit genocideintervention.net for more info.
Woocher: "Now is the time to invest in prevention. We can't afford another crisis."
Tough questions: With the US economy spiraling, how can we make Darfur a front burner priority?
Woocher: " Prevention has to be our priority."
Lawrence Woocher: "3 core pieces: bring back hum aid, protect the civilian population, ultimately there must be a political solution
"Stop the killing. We hope the final result will be peace. But the people in Darfur are still dying."
(cont'd) " It's a test for us all to how we can stand firm."
SDC's Niemat Ahmadi: "I have hope when I hear the envoy is going to Sudan. But I'd like to see something different to give us hope"
Q: What would Darfuris like to see the Obama Administration do?
Mark Hanis: You don't have to leave this room and not take action; you don't have to turn the page or the channel when you see the news.
Whoops! Andrea just mixed up Mark Hanis and Jerry White...but recovers nicely. We're lucky to have her.
Jerry: "No one survives alone."
Jerry White of SurvivorCorps: "We want to find the recipe for resilience. How do you go on? Each survivor has a date when life is cut in 2
Justin: "My tribe in other countries feel like outcasts."
