Come along and see how we're classifying and mapping Australia's seabed geomorphology!
[PUBLIC TALK] The shape of the seabed is as diverse as it is deep. Join @GeoNanson to explore a world-first geoscience classification scheme to map the seabed to support the development of Australia’s sustainable Ocean Economy [11am Wed 21 Aug] 👉 bit.ly/3SSszRk #DGAL

🌊 See the seabed of the Torres Strait as never before! Working with the Australian Hydrographic Office and @JCU we have released a seabed map of the whole Torres Strait in unprecedented detail, improving understanding of this precious environment 👉 bit.ly/3QMaliy.
Zhi's paper is just out, showcasing the capability of our new ESRI semi-automation tools for operationalising seabed morphology (Part 1) mapping.

We're so excited to see our marine geomorphology method and glossary downloaded 1000 times and viewed 1600 times over the last 3 months. Hopefully it's proving useful for mapping and teaching!
We love to bring consistency and ocean best practice to life! With @BritGeoSurvey @UCC @GeolSurvIE and @NGUgeology we've defined and structured hundreds of geomorphic unit terms into the marine settings and processes that form them

This is fantastic, I can see myself spending a lot of time on this!
SeaLevelTool is now publicly available! This is my software to quickly explore sea level curves and submerged landscapes. Find it in the QGIS plugins repository, and see the guide here: github.com/patrick-morrison/…
ANZGG is a great group, follow @anzgeomorph to keep up to date on the latest geomorph in the region.

I feel like we should be talking more about deep water circulation slowdown. We are getting more and more evidence for it - and this one is really alarming.
👉👉Out today in @NatureClimate our new study revealing an observed 30% slowdown in the Antarctic overturning circulation in the Australian Antarctic Basin, led by Kathy Gunn with Steve Rintoul & Melissa Bowen @Ant_Partnership @AntarcticSciAus @UNSWScience nature.com/articles/s41558-0…
Our seabed geomorphology mapping report has just hit over 1000 reads and 600 downloads in a month. Happy #marine #geomorphology #mapping all!

Oh Valentin! Congratulations!
💙Happy VALENTIN's Day!
...nope, that's not a typo -- we're just celebrating the new article by Valentin Zuchuat (@stratival) et al., documenting patterns of erosion-progradation in the Gulf of Carpentaria, northern Australia.
Check it out here: tinyurl.com/Carpentaria
At GA we're working with European agencies to standardise the way we map and classify the geomorphology of the seafloor @GeoscienceAus #AMSA22
So important to consider #spatialscale #scale (using a robust method) when using, interpreting and building #geomorphological maps and models of our marine estate, as explained by Rachel Nanson @GeoscienceAus at @AMSA_wa #AMSA22 #amsa2022
