You'll never see a club sign a player from Tamworth and a player from Sarpsborg in the same window 🖤🤍

Very sad news. I spoke to Steve most weeks during his spell as Notts manager and he was always entertaining and witty.
I still laugh about some of his quotes, including after a controversial defeat at MK Dons: 'If the ref was on fire I'd dial 998'. Rest in peace Thommo.

Thought Palmer was outstanding today, in all facets of the game including his set plays - far more like the Palmer we grew to love. Dennis first half yes but for 90 it was Palmer.

The 'gotcha' moment came just over a week ago, with a photo of former Swansea head coach Luke Williams working as a customer care assistant at an airport posted online and now viewed more than 1.8 million times on X.
“I was at the gate for an EasyJet flight, waiting to take a passenger onto the bus to take them out to the aircraft,” Williams explains.
“Three really nice young guys were standing just behind me and one of them came forward and showed me his phone, and it was a picture of myself. He said: ‘Excuse me. Do you ever get told that you look like this guy?’.
“First of all, I don’t want to lie because it’s not the right thing to do. Secondly, I have a lanyard with my name on it, so I said: ‘Well, I do get told that I look like that guy quite a lot. Because that guy is me’.”
But, as Williams tells @stujames75, there's no shame.
He passion for coaching burns as brightly as ever. His decision was unusual but he places more stock in personal development than his own ego.

He’s come out of nowhere from such a long process. This is the owners going, right we are doing it our way. Be a very, very unique set up this. Could be a modern masterstroke, or a muddled mess… as ever from the off he/they get every support. Needs some better players, mind!

Hugely underwhelming appointment on the face of it. But hard to imagine there was a long queue of recognised managers willing to come in & work with two club-appointed assistants & have to justify his team selections before and after games to a committee every week.
Tough gig.

It’s the correct decision, and the statement really underlines why:
‘Neither results nor performances reached the levels we believed the team was capable of - particularly during the defining period towards the end’
Wish him all the best, but think this was the right call

There are a lot of great coaches around, some proven managers available, and going back to a previous manager often isn’t right
But Luke Williams is right there. Would love him back

Without any doubt the correct call.
Nice guy so wouldn’t have been good to see Meadow Lane turn to Fullarton-type levels of anger (or us waste another season) before a decision was made.
The last paragraph of the statement is the most important. Onto the next 🙌
