Taxing the rich more doesn't automatically solve poverty, and cutting welfare isn't the only way to protect the economy. A fair system should encourage wealth creation while ensuring the vulnerable aren't abandoned.

Kurt Metzger brought up a point to me today, he said the Epstein Files are a test of compliancy, if there is a bit of outrage but overall it simmers down and is accepted without major consequences, if humanity allows this, then permission for the next phase is given.

WHEN YOU REALIZE THE BABY BOOM WASN'T JUST SOLDIERS COMING HOME HORNY. It was soldiers coming home to the GI Bill, free college, 0% down home loans, and low interest business loans. It was strong unions. Pensions. A house that cost 2 years of salary. It was confidence that the future was actually going to be better than the present. That's what produced a baby boom. Not romance. Security. You want a higher birth rate now? Give people a future where they know their kids will actually be okay. That's the whole formula. It's not complicated. It's just expensive, and nobody in charge wants to pay for it twice.

🚨 Scientists gave women suffering from postpartum depression ONE injection of a new psychedelic. And 7 days later... 71% WERE IN REMISSION. Not just feeling a little better. Their depression scores had dropped into the remission range. The drug is called: 𝘭𝘶𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘯. It's related to psilocybin, but its psychedelic effects wear off much faster. Even 28 days later, around 70% of the full-dose group were still in remission. The low-dose group improved too, but only 41% reached remission. And the FDA has now granted the treatment Breakthrough Therapy status. Imagine what something like this could mean for new mothers who are struggling. ❤️

This goes for anxiety, grief, loss, or even a lack of confidence. I find this technique and this idea really interesting and helpful. It’s difficult to put into words, but there is a time and place to embrace the uncertainty and “hug the cactus” as I’ve sometimes heard it described. Break the chain of negativity, and be open to light and positivity in your life. Remember to make room for the good. This is a message that I don’t often get to discuss but I think it’s an important conversation, I have found this helpful, and I hope maybe it can help someone else. There is no one perfect way to get through any challenge as long as you are kind to yourself, and those around you. Keep moving forward 💛

I think social media has given most of us a mild form of collective psychosis. We’re emotionally dysregulated by strangers, paranoid about people we’ve never met, addicted to manufactured outrage, and convinced that being constantly exposed to everything means we understand anything. We need to log off and remember we’re animals on a rock.

Today has taught me that nuance is completely dead on Twitter. I can be sad that the man died in the tiger enclosure AND be glad that the tiger won’t be killed. I can disapprove of live-streamed execution AND hate what the terrorist did. I can acknowledge Selma Blair’s previous behaviour AND ask that her condition be a considering factor, without excusing her. I can disapprove of the botched Pike execution AND be disgusted by what she did to her victim. Who said it has to be binary choice all the time?

Downloading a song on LimeWire was basically gambling. You might get the song. You might get a virus. You might get a 14 second audio clip of Bill Clinton saying something completely unrelated. Nobody knew.

Heaven fears the statistical literate who must write 20,000 lines of R before he steps out of the house each day, for fear that the unknown tail risks of descending his particular front porch steps may be indicative of his demise.

Social media has always been an issue. It began with stupid videos dot com and then YouTube was born. The world became actors- making the “drama” Alan watts speaks of truly more real 🫠 I always have to remind myself with videos- what are they gaining and what’s real.
One of the major problems with social media is its performative nature. And I’m not just talking about the content people post. Everyone gets that. It’s the replies. Most people don’t care at all about the person posting or what they said. They care about the attention they might get if the big account’s post pops off. The incentives are completely misaligned from how humans are designed to work. It has no concern for trust. It couldn’t care less about relationships. There’s no depth or warmth or affection. It’s just performative transacting to gain more attention. And the original poster knows this. There’s no point in engaging in conversation with someone who only responds to what you said in order to get attention from others. It would be like trying to chat with someone in a coffee shop, and instead of responding to you after you spoke, they turned and shouted a response to everyone else in the coffee shop. The whole situation becomes spiritually depraved at the core. Which is why so many people feel empty and relationsless even after “corresponding” all day here. I commend the few who are able to still use this place as a way of connecting and forming relationships. It’s the most amazing tool in human history in that regard. But, if you want to assure you truly keep your soul intact, you need to connect 1:1 with people you meet here. In person if you can. Everything else leads to depravity.

It’s literally America’s best idea. Public land has brought in trillions of dollars in tourism and energy revenue, holds nearly all of our fresh water & wildlife, and is the reason most places have clean air to breathe.
Why did the government start holding onto so much land the more the country expanded west?

Alex Honnold has given away about a third of his income since 2012. How he’s doing it may teach us about how to give better. Post columnist Michael Coren joined Honnold for a climb to learn why he thinks people are playing it too safe with their giving. wapo.st/4yQX4to

in 1971, the federal minimum wage was $1.60 an hour. 40 hours of work = $64 at the official $35/oz gold price, that was about 1.83 ounces of gold. today, 1.83 ounces of gold is worth roughly $7,900. to earn $7,900 in a single 40-hour workweek today, you’d need to make about $198/hour. $1.60/hour then. ~$198/hour today. measured in gold. let that sink in.

Some people think we live in crazy times. But if you read enough history, you’ll realize: These are the best of times. Your life is exactly as crazy as you are. Put down your phone. Touch grass. Talk to real people. We live in a golden era. Life is electric bro.
