Civil liberties under attack again.
Adults should not have to prove they are adults in order to safeguard other people's children.
That's the role of the children's parents.

We cannot have sustainable energy because it threatens the oil industry. We cannot have healthcare because it threatens insurance. We cannot have peace because it threatens the weapons industry. Capitalism built a system where doing the right thing is treated like bad business.

"everyone is capable of changing and growing from racism bc everyone is capable of racism and therefore need to put the work into unlearning that" and "you don't owe ex-racists forgiveness or sympathy for doing so" are two things that can and DO co-exist, wtf are y'all on 😭

I’d rather trust a person with a troubled past with genuine changed behavior vs. a person that loves using their ‘perfection’ to feel better than other people

It's already working.
Oppose online censorship and suddenly you're a "deviant pervert" who's just mad your favorite porn is disappearing.
That's the trick: reframe defending free speech and civil liberties as defending the worst porn imaginable.
Now who wants to speak up?

The UK currently has a prison capacity crisis. We have so few open prison spaces that the government has been operating an early release scheme.
- People in prison for shoplifting have been released early.
- People in prison for domestic abuse have been released early.
- Two men convicted for manslaughter in the killing of a police officer were going to be released early, until the political backlash forced the Prime Minister to intervene.
- The mother of Henry Novak's killer, who hid the murder weapon, is due for early release.
But we're spending time and public money drafting badly-worded and unenforceable laws that make it an imprisonable offense to possess pornography in which known actors of legal age look like they might be step-relatives?
You don't go to prison for shagging your actual cousin, incidentally. That would be culturally insensitive.

Not kinda terrifying. Just terrifying. No privacy or democracy, the 1% getting richer and everyone else struggling, propaganda companies given more power, citizens loosing rights, devision growing between citizens, funding wars/genocides and enviromental issues being ignored

people cheering this as if they're not gonna start targeting queer media next. THEN u will start crying about censorship as if we haven't been warning u
The British government is banning pornography that includes depictions of choking, incest & adults roleplaying as children.
The ban goes into place from November 6th.

ppl gotta understand the UK government banning things isn't about "protecting" anyone, its about opening a gate way to banning more things and thus, mass surveillance online.

We shouldn’t be sending people to prison for having choking porn
There are risks associated with a ton of of consensual adult activities, but we don’t criminalise them
Spend this energy educating people (boys!) about consent, not trying to change people’s sexual habits

Any streaming platforms that wont need a tv license with the BBC, now is your time to advertise yourself. Many people will be looking for alternatives to @DisneyPlus @YouTube @PrimeVideo if they bend over to the BBC. We need new platforms both for consumers and content creators!

"Those found to be in possession of images depicting strangulation, suffocation or penetrative sexual activity between certain relatives could face up to two years' imprisonment."
Let me get this straight.
Britain's prisons are so full that we're systematically releasing hundreds of violent criminals early, many of which go on to immediately re-offend.
And the government is now planning to lock people up (for 2 years!) for watching videos that are widely available in the US/EU and consumed by a large share of the population (including many women).
You really don't hate politicians enough.

I love YouTube.
But I’ll cancel premium and never use it again to avoid funding the BBC.
Like if you agree.
FYI @YouTube
BBC licence fee to be extended to YouTube, Netflix & Amazon.
This is completely unacceptable.
Those of us who have decided not to watch terrestrial TV should not be forced to pay for and prop up an outdated system.
Let the BBC sink or swim on its own.
