As we prep for tomorrow's new episode of Gills Talk, let's feature our Gills Club Scholar, Taylor, one more time!
One of the lab assignments included identifying specimens of elasmobranchs (sharks, skates, and rays). The shark Taylor is holding is an adult Atlantic Sharpnose Shark. You can identify this shark by the small white dots scattered across its dorsal side and its pointy nose.
A Gills Club Scholar reunion!

We can't wait to have the Gills back in the shark center for our annual shark dissection! We hope our Gills are enjoying their new school year! Spread the word and bring a friend to our September Gills Club Meeting! RSVP with the link in our bio!
It wasn't just all sharks for our GC Scholar at @ShoalsMarineLab! Classes attend an art class with an artist in residence. Working with Jasmine Gutbrod, using ink, dawn dish soap, and gifts from nature (algae, flowers, feathers) they were able to make one-of-a-kind designs!
How does one create a path from the Air Force to going to school for marine biology? Our 2024 Gills Club Scholar is doing just that! We are excited to have her on the newest episode of the Gills Talk Podcast! Listen where you listen to podcasts.
