Tim Rideout always insisted a new currency could be established with conversion of deposits purely voluntary. But Laurentjoye’s report kills that idea (it always was mad). Deposits convert automatically “without the consent of each customer”. Good luck selling that to voters…

In May 2026 @SouthLanCouncil council received an application to turn the old dilapidated job centre in Lanark into a hostel and the people off Lanark looked at the plans and the alarm bells started ringing Objections came piling in and the planning application today still hasn’t reached a decision leaving me to believe they are not wanting to make the decision and are hoping that @scotgov will intervene… well people off Lanark want the decision made and their is sufficient evidence their to decline that so when will you all put your big girl pants on and make that decision
