Followed by a brilliant talk on the Magic Lantern and the Christian Brethren archive by @GmjCollier #TeachRylands – at Manchester, England
Just had a brilliant session on class in the library at #UMLTogether22. Made me reflect on my own journey to the 'middle class university', and all the unwritten rules I've had to learn. Work continues to widen participation and break down barriers!

This exhibition looks fantastic - Ernest and Shena Simon were hugely influential figures in the development of the University of Manchester as well as the 'garden city' of Wythenshawe. The exhibition is also co-curated by the university's Dr Martin Dodge. Well worth a visit! – at Manchester, England
A fascinating exhibition is due to launch this Saturday @ForumCentre #ForumLibrary.

Saw this last night, absolutely brilliant. Sort of like a working class Hamilton. Anyone interested in 19th century, riots, labour history, or just good new ways of doing 'Popular History' will be blown away. They're doing Helmshore Mills next Friday - what an event that will be.

Latest word is 114 of us have protested against the planning application for a 26-storey tower suffocating the Briton's Protection pub, with just 3 in favour.
WE NEED MORE to protect the Protection!
Please object on this webpage BY 17 APRIL at the latest!

Last few days to protest against the threat to our favourite pub, the Briton's Protection @BPManchester, from a crazy 26-storey tower on stilts over the tiny carpark - we're not making it up, this is the architects' drawing!
PLEASE PROTEST by 17 April at pa.manchester.gov.uk/online-…

Today we officially launch our 'Rag Rag' collection of student magazines. This collection reflects the prejudices of the era in which it was created, and some items include content which is offensive, oppressive and may cause upset.

Our first online University Heritage collection is now accessible through the Manchester Digital Collections. It is a challenging collection in many ways, but one that tells an important story about student life and popular culture in the 20th century. Content warnings apply. – at Manchester, England
