The PLFS Monthly Bulletin for September 2026 highlights key indicators of India’s labour market.
The overall Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) for persons aged 15 years and above stood at 55.5%, while the Female LFPR was 34.6%. The Worker Population Ratio (WPR) stood at 52.7%, and the overall Unemployment Rate was 5.0%.
These indicators provide insights into labour force participation, workforce engagement and employment conditions across India.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) held a dedicated session on Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) during the Conference of State Planning, Finance and IT Secretaries on 13 October 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Chaired by Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, the session focused on the methodology for compiling GSDP and state-level experiences in under the new base year 2022–23. The presentations and subsequent Q&A provided a platform for sharing state-level experiences and discussing approaches to strengthening the compilation of GSVA/GSDP state economic estimates.
