My brother John and I started serving in the chancel together in A.D. 1990. Today, my 8 year old son joined us for the first time. He did a great job, and Satan took another big L for the week.

Audio and text of the Sunday sermon from Trinity Anglican Church (Connersville, IN): Audio link below "We are in the evil day because every day will be evil until our Savior returns, and this weaponry is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness. This armor is the same as that worn by God himself in chapter 59 of Isaiah, but now it is entrusted to us to wear as we battle in the name of the living God. We battle for the souls of our neighbors by standing firm in the power that raised a glorified Christ from His tomb. We wear that power; we are surrounded by that power; we are protected by that power. Nothing can truly hurt us because any pain inflicted by the world is nothing but a temporary wound that will be like a treasured medal in the eternity which awaits Christ’s faithful servant soldiers."

Audio and text of the Sunday sermon from Trinity Anglican Church (Connersville, IN) Link in Below "The true definition of evangelism explains the careful rules our Lord laid out for his evangelists in today’s Gospel. He sent them by twos, and never alone. He sent them to prepare the way for himself, and not for themselves. When he told them to greet no man along the way, he wasn’t telling them to be unfriendly, but that the Kingdom of God has a different culture from the world’s, that his Kingdom shapes local cultures and isn’t shaped by them, and that the ornate greetings of the ancient middle east were a distraction from the business at hand. This message is an urgent one. When he told them to bring no scrip or purse, he wasn’t telling them to be irresponsible, but to trust that Providence would provide for them, not the least by moving the hearts of the saved to support God’s work. Finally, he warned them that they would not be accepted everywhere, but that they should enter those houses where they were invited and welcomed, in order to bring them peace with God. Thus, it is always God who makes converts, and we are only his instruments."

A blessed Oxford Martyrs' Day 'O Lord, we beseech thee, for whom thy martyr Stephen did pray, and whom thine holy Apostle did so truly and earnestly love, that, for their salvation, he wished himself accursed from thee. Remember, O heavenly Father, the prayer of thy dear Son our Saviour Christ upon the cross, when he said unto thee: “O Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” With this forgiveness, O good Lord, give me, I beseech thee, thy grace, so here briefly to set forth the sayings of thy Son our Saviour Christ, of his Evangelists, and of his Apostles, that, in this aforesaid controversy, the light of thy truth, by the lantern of thy word, may shine upon all them that love thee.' - a prayer composed by Bp. Ridley as he awaited his execution.

Audio and text of the Sunday sermon from Trinity Anglican Church (Connersville, IN) Audio link below "Jesus Christ, for example, is the truth of engineering. A bridge stands or falls, not because of the inventiveness of the engineers that built it, but because of the bridge builders' and that bridge's conformity to the rules of reality that can be known only, finally, and completely in Jesus Christ. The rules of the material world, the tensile strength of the steel in the bridge, for example, are dependable enough to build bridges because the God who created the world is dependable. And we know that the God who created the world is dependable because his Son became a man in this world, participated in the rules of this world, and shed his blood to demonstrate the value that God in heaven puts on the existence and salvation of this world."

Agreed, the foundational genius of the 1552/1662 Book of Common Prayer is its repurposing of a whole set of empirically effective means of public spirituality for the purpose of making a nation Protestant (meant in the old sense of a mechanism for the return to primitive catholicity). What makes the BCP still relevant is the constant need to convert nations with every new generation born.

It is the peculiar work of God's priests to show Christ's love in all places and to all men.

Please keep St. George's Church (Lockport, NY) in your prayers. It is a beautiful new church plant in the Anglican Way. One loves to see the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and the old, simple uniform of the Anglican priest.
