Somebody tell the job market it was supposed to be tired.
October added 165,000 jobs, plus an upwards revision to boot! The forecast was 65,000. That's not a beat, that's a blowout. Unemployment slipped to 4.1%, and pay rose 0.4% for the month, hotter than expected too.
Here's the catch. A job market this strong gives the Fed less reason to cut rates. So yields jumped, and stocks can't decide if this is good news or bad news.
That's your cue to let price pick a side first. No clear setup? Sit on your hands and enjoy the show.
Are rate cuts still on your list?

🧵Ultimate Central bank Week Recap: five majors, one problem (inflation), and five different answers.
Same oil shock, different vibes.
Breman paused, Macklem hiked, Warsh held firm, Lagarde held (but December’s looking spicy), and Ueda said “we finally hit 2%… now what?”
Let’s break it down in the thread below... 👇

Gold's recent struggles may deepen if prices break below the critical $3,900 support level, with the Dow to gold ratio suggesting potential headwinds. Monitoring this key level could reveal gold's next major bottom.

#Gold is stuck between a debt bid and a yield lid. The chart called in sick. Translation = boring equilibrium.. But keep in mind, what we see as 'boring' is really smart money either accumulating or distributing positions before the eventual spike we get!
It’s bouncing off that demand near 4,100–4,140, GLD 380 wall right under it.
World Gold Council’s Friday close was $4,186, we're still near that.
This week’s title is 'Pricing fiscal risk'. France is paying extra to borrow. Gold ETFs still got buyers. Price shrugged. 🤷♂️
The 10-year near 5.2% is the lid. Under 5.15% and gold can exhale. Hot CPI tomorrow and the lid stays screwed on.
Follow the 10-year, not the debt headline.
Real floor, or just gold holding its breath for CPI?

A strong US dollar continues to cap the rebound in silver, with critical focus on the upcoming CPI report. A break above $65 could signal a stronger recovery, while persistent inflation risks may lead to renewed pressure on prices.

Gold fell while people were still buying it.
September was down more than 8%. Gold ETFs still took in more than 70 tonnes. The blue line on this chart is holdings. The purple line is price. They split. ETFs were buying. Futures traders were selling.
Sixth straight down week. Longest since 2018. Driver was the 10-year and the dollar, not a peace deal. Gold pays nothing. A bond that beats inflation just got more expensive to skip.
Friday’s soft payroll helped a bounce. It did not repair the month. Follow US10Y, not the ETF headline.
Chart: WGC, weekly monitor.
Does the next yield dip actually stick… or is this still a sell-the-bounce metal?
