So Saban would like people to come in and tell him how much he is allowed to be compensated and where he is allowed to work and for how long? If that’s what you’re into, I guess
"Treat other people like you would like to be treated." ❤️ Saban's biggest piece of advice on his 75th birthday 💯

Texas is probably the one of maybe three SEC teams who could get into the CFP right now with 3 losses when Vanderbilt couldn’t get in last year with 2 and Sark is whining
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said the SEC "put the cart before the horse" in going to a nine-game conference schedule during the 12-team College Football Playoff era. The league is cannibalizing itself like never before, which could create CFP complications on selection day.

This made me LOL
Replying to @BrennonChapman
LSU has played under lights in Tiger Stadium since 1931. Ole Miss added lights in 1990. Night games have been a priority for one for almost 100 years. Find something else to whine about

Similarities run deep Both fired multiple offensive and defensive coordinators before hiring themselves as defensive coordinator and finding an offensive coordinator that could manage independently, both had a single consistent quarterback that got them a big contract extension
Two Vanderbilt football coaching records through six years A) 27-47 (10-38 SEC) B) 29-41 (11-34 SEC) Presented blinded for you Spoiler alert: they are our most recent coaches

When Barton Simmons said Vanderbilt was intentionally not designed around the quarterback this year, we should have believed him

Interesting to see schools admit that “[c]ourt settlements cannot create a national regulatory system.” When agreed to, there was a lot of talk about the House settlement creating a new regulatory model for college athletics. But only works w/ an antitrust exemption.
Ohio's public universities write to their House delegation urging them to pass the Protect College Sports Act and that includes Ohio State.

It reminds me of coaching kids baseball where they change the rules for the tournament to allow steals from third base. I agree - make it consistent
I continue to think it's absurd that we use one rule for the regular season and then a very, very, very different rule for the postseason. Pick one. (People who oppose the rule in the postseason generally oppose it overall, which, to me, misses the point of the argument.)

Yes it’s a dynamic returning duo, but I’m scared they might not have the offensive line to shine
NEW: Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball Position Preview 🏀 Mikayla Blakes and Aubrey Galvan lead what could be the best backcourt in the country. With added depth and sky-high expectations, just how dangerous can Shea Ralph’s guards be this season? READ: on3.com/sites/the-dore-repor…

It is because capital allocation becomes rooted in foundational principles like marginal return - you can’t pay your first string as much as the second or third string. so if supply can move freely and there are enough buyers of the supply, talent diffuses and parity increases
Rick Pitino explains how paying players has both created more parity in college 🏀 and led to a better product on the floor. Talent is more widely distributed. Making it more important to perform adequate due diligence on players.

Good grief Clark Lea if you lose this game…
Vanderbilt will officially play against true freshman QB Parker Puckett next week in Starkville. Puckett has 279 yards, 1 passing TD and 2 INTs over the last 2 weeks filling in for Kamario Taylor.

Some more VandyBoys notes from Sunday’s exhibitions against Northwestern, courtesy of my friend @TreyDores, who was there tracking the action! Trey was kind enough to share his observations and unofficial stats, and Vanderbilt has since released its official recap. Here’s a more detailed look at how the Dores performed. Unlike last week’s exhibitions, which were nine innings, Sunday’s games against Northwestern were two seven-inning contests. Vanderbilt finished the day with 18 hits, 13 runs and FIVE home runs across the two exhibitions! Offensively, there was a lot to like: Tommy Goodin continues to have an incredible fall. He went 2-for-3 with TWO home runs, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Trey also recorded 2 walks, including an intentional walk. He’s been one of the most consistent offensive performers throughout the fall. James Tronstein continues to impress as well, collecting 3 hits across the exhibitions according to Trey’s notes. Vanderbilt officially credited him with a 2-for-3 performance in Game 2, including a double, a walk and 3 runs scored. Another strong showing from a guy who continues to find ways to get on base and make things happen offensively. Aukai Kea had a big day, officially going 2-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. He’s another name worth keeping an eye on. Matt Conte and Noah Wilson both went deep as well, each finishing 1-for-4 with a home run. Conte also reportedly threw out both runners who attempted to steal against him, which is particularly encouraging. RJ Cope picked up a hit in his lone at-bat and drove in 2 runs. Niko Brini and Bud Coombs each recorded a hit according to Trey’s notes. Rustan Rigdon went hitless, but Trey noted that he continued to make hard contact, hitting balls directly at defenders. Sometimes the results don’t reflect the quality of the at-bats. Blaize Ward drew two walks, continuing to find ways to reach base even without recording a hit. Ryker Waite recorded a hit but did not play defensively. Collin Brightwell and Korbin Reynolds each drew a walk. Jackson Melconian also recorded a double, while Hunter Ray and Mack Whitcomb saw action at the plate. On the mound: Vanderbilt’s pitching staff combined for 17 strikeouts across the two exhibitions. Tyler Baird had one of the more encouraging outings, striking out 4 batters across 2 scoreless, hitless innings. Really promising stuff from him. Gavin Lauridsen worked 2 innings with 2 strikeouts, allowing 2 hits and 1 run without issuing a walk. Trey noted that the run came on a ball that went off a defender’s glove and probably should have been caught. Aiden Stillman delivered a strong outing according to Vanderbilt’s official recap, tossing a scoreless, hitless inning with 2 strikeouts and no walks. Another encouraging performance from him after showing some impressive velocity earlier this fall. Dominic Monaco worked 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits while striking out 3 batters. Trey did note some command issues during his appearance. Hudson Alpert also looked sharp, tossing 2 innings without allowing a hit or earned run while recording a strikeout. Nate Taylor also made a brief appearance, coming in for a one-batter situation. He needed just ONE pitch to get the batter to foul out. Efficient work from Taylor! Brinham and Joseph Contreras also saw action on the mound. Both had difficult outings according to Trey’s notes, with command being a particular issue. Contreras struggled to get out of his inning despite being given an opportunity to work through it. Jameson Napper also made an appearance, with Trey describing his outing as okay.

I didn’t know how right I was going to be. Really really wanted to be wrong
I know we had a Heisman runner up and a second round pick draft pick at tight end and they were a package deal with our offensive coordinator that we haven’t yet proven can be replicated but….

VANDERBILT: Liked plan early for the offense. Jet sweeps to hold the edges was effective. Moved pocket. Used QB designed run. Quick game. 16 good all around. Had some operation errors, snap count not timed up, hand offs, snaps off target. Not a ton of yards after catch. Good job chopping zone but couldn't get many over the top. Protection had breakdowns. Slide pro got split up. Got pushed in pass pro, RT got feet together in sets. RBs good in pass pro. Good PA with splitters to TEs. 0 had YAC but not too much else. Struggled with misdirection on def. Gap scheme hurt. MIs fit some things. 21 good in coverage. 8 good near LOS. EDGES got lost in read game.

The proper move at this point for Clark if he wanted to make the most of the bye week. Fire Gregory - install himself as DC or promote Shoop. Give two weeks to try and get up and running think with 2 weeks you continue to mold offense for Curtis but HAVE to find a running game

But Clark has proven to be insanely slow to act so in season moves are probably off the table
