For many people, the sound of rain means comfort, peace, and falling asleep in a warm bed. But for us in Gaza, it has become another sound of fear and suffering. 💔 Tonight, the rain is pouring heavily, and the thunder and lightning won’t stop. We are sitting inside our tent, trying to shelter ourselves from the cold and rain. My cat Maria was eating outside, but when the storm got stronger, she quickly ran back into the tent. She came and sat beside me, terrified by the sounds of thunder and rain, as if she were looking to me for safety. 😭 I looked at her and felt so sad… She doesn’t know that we are scared too, and that the tent she ran into for shelter can’t even protect us from the heavy rain. I always try to protect Maria and my other cats and make them feel safe. But how can I reassure them when I don’t even know if our tent will survive this storm? Imagine living inside a tent, and every time it rains, you’re afraid that water will soak your bedding and clothes, or that your tent might flood while you’re still inside. We have already endured so much fear, displacement, and suffering. And now winter is coming to add even more hardship to our already difficult lives. All I wish for tonight is that we make it through safely, and that my family and my cats stay safe. Please keep us in your prayers, and don’t forget the thousands of families and children facing this storm inside their tents. Even our cats are searching for safety… and we are still searching for it too. 💔
