Today I signed an Executive Order establishing a higher bar for data center development in Utah.
Utahns deserve confidence that water resources, air quality, utility rates, wildlife, and quality of life will be protected. This framework helps ensure that data center development aligns with Utah’s long-term interests and reflects Utah values.
In Utah, environmental stewardship and economic opportunity go hand in hand.
Irish @SenatorMarkDaly has been instrumental in building ties between Utah and Ireland.
We continued those conversations at the Irish Parliament, discussing opportunities to expand trade, strengthen research partnerships, and position Utah as a gateway for Irish businesses entering the American market.
Grateful for his friendship and commitment to strengthening the Utah-Ireland relationship.
Supporting families, strengthening rural economies, and creating opportunities for businesses are priorities that cross borders.
We discussed these shared challenges and opportunities with Ireland’s Minister @daracalleary at Leinster House, including ways Utah and Ireland can learn from each other and work together.
Utah companies looking to do business in Europe have a valuable partner in Ireland. Many of the technology and life science companies operating in Utah already have a European base here. Our trade mission is focused on opening more doors for Utah businesses and building research partnerships.
I met with Irish Prime Minister @MichealMartinTD to discuss how we can build on that relationship. We also talked about issues that matter to families in both places: keeping kids safe online and putting homeownership within reach.
As one of the Great Salt Lake's earliest philanthropic supporters, Kem Gardner contributed $1 million to help protect and restore the lake. His generosity is helping fund critical water-lease agreements, including one bringing approximately 2,500 acre-feet of conserved water to the lake.
We’re grateful to Kem and the Gardner family for their generosity, leadership, and dedication to protecting the Great Salt Lake for generations to come.
Kalshi is gambling. Calling it something else doesn’t change what it is. We’ve held the line against gambling since statehood, and we’re not backing down.
I applaud @UtahAG Derek Brown and his team for defending Utah’s right to enforce our laws and taking action against Kalshi today. They have our full support as they work to protect Utah families and hold these companies accountable.
Utah sues Kalshi, seeking up to $60 million in profit made off of Utahns
“These companies, they’re not your friends,” said @AGDerekBrown. “They’re not helping you invest, they’re not providing you with insights or opportunity. Frankly, they are engineered to do one thing and one thing alone: empty your wallet.” abc4.com/news/politics/utah-…
Utah’s Department of Public Safety changed how it handles applicant background investigations, assigning the work to non-sworn staff and adopting new software. Average turnaround dropped from 51 days to 33, saving $165,000 in 2025.
That’s GRIT: practical changes that make better use of your tax dollars.
Thank you, Utah. For the fourth year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has named Utah the best state in the nation. And the credit belongs to you.
I had the pleasure of talking with @usnews about the people behind that ranking. Utahns raise families, start businesses, and give generously of their time.
To everyone who puts time, work, and care into this state: thank you.
Utah's unemployment rate remained below the national average in September, coming in at 3.5% compared to 4.2% nationally.
We're grateful for the workers, employers and entrepreneurs who continue to build opportunity across our state.

🌊 THE GREAT SALT LAKE IS RESPONDING TO THE RAIN!
One of the biggest winners from Utah’s historic storm cycle? The Great Salt Lake.
📈 Here’s what changed:
Lake level: Up approximately 0.6 feet — that’s more than 7 inches!
Lake volume: Increased from 29.1% to 30.5% of capacity.
Volume gain: That’s a 1.4 percentage-point increase in the lake’s total volume.
That’s a meaningful response to a major storm system that delivered widespread, much-needed precipitation across Utah. Rainfall, mountain runoff and streamflow all play a role in moving water into the lake.
The science is pretty remarkable. When you add widespread precipitation across the Great Basin, the benefits extend well beyond wet roads and muddy trails. Some of that water eventually makes its way into our terminal lake.
One important reality check: The Great Salt Lake remains in serious trouble, and one storm cycle won’t solve years of water deficits. But every meaningful contribution matters.
We’ll need to keep the water coming through the rest of fall, winter and spring to make a lasting difference.
Today, we welcomed faith leaders from around the world to Utah for the G20 Interfaith Forum.
I was honored to join Martin Luther King III and former Gov. David Beasley for a conversation about faith, peacemaking and the power of community.
Our differences do not make us enemies. In a world hungry for hope, belonging and connection, faith communities have a vital role to play in bringing people together and teaching us to love our neighbors, even when we disagree.
When a crack was discovered in Panguitch Lake Dam in 2024, Garfield County crews went to work stabilizing it and protecting people downstream.
Last week, we celebrated the completion of the new dam, which will help safeguard Panguitch and store water the area depends on.
Thank you to Garfield County’s leaders, road crews and sheriff’s office, the West Panguitch Irrigation Company, state water officials, and the Utah Legislature. You responded when your neighbors needed you and stayed with the work until it was done.
It is no longer a matter of if we will save the Great Salt Lake. We will save the lake.
Crystal Maggelet and her family are helping turn that commitment into action with a $10 million pledge through Great Salt Lake Rising to support projects that bring more water to the lake and restore its habitat.
Thank you to the Maggelet family for making this extraordinary commitment to Utah. Their generosity will help protect the lake and the Utahns and wildlife that depend on it for generations to come.
