Only Christian culture turned on slavery (twice over the centuries) and eradicated it at great cost to itself. The British led the way & moved against the African, Arab and European nations & empires engaged in the trade. Thank you William Wilberforce and thank you England.

Daylight Saving Time ends on Nov. 1st. Here's why I'm happy to see Standard Time return:
- Better alignment with our body's circadian rhythm.
- Morning light helps regulate our internal body clock.
- More natural daylight in the morning.

If you have a telescope and clear skies tonight, set it up on the sidewalk. Show the trick-or-treaters Saturn.
You may literally change the trajectory of a kid’s life.

I think when we fall back to Standard Time tomorrow morning, we should keep it that way.
It’s healthier for our circadian rhythm. And safer for kids going to school and adults going to work in the morning.
Plus, I’m a morning person who tends to go to bed early. I like it when it starts getting daylight earlier.

A lot of people have the intuition that it's not fair if it isn't coachable, but the original intention of the test was the opposite--to discover kids from outside the Harvard class who were bright and grasped material easily despite lackluster formal education.

I never knew half of the words you had to "guess" at as a kid, when I was scoring absurdly well on these tests. In fact, the reason I loved them is that I could simply find my way to the right answer because I'd read enough to infer the meanings words I hadn't directly encountered.
With the mid-terms this meme is making another round. 🍳😆
Purportedly seen in a yard in Charleston. This is how you know Southerners are riled up!

The reason FL Dept of Health should care about noise pollution is the tremendous negative health impacts of relentless 24/7 dBA noise
If Donalds wins, we need to start a campaign to keep Dr. Ladapo. I know people think some of his ideas are out there, but he’s very much for medical freedom and I think he’ll help us (as much as possible in the SG role) with the noise pollution we face with the threat of data centers and other large facilities (like big weed grow facilities) as well.

The Republican party has been hijacked by populists who know nothing about politics prior to 2016.
Lifelong (Reagan) Republicans get it and would love to purge the party of a certain sect.
I've been watching and reading social media posts from across the political spectrum, and something has become increasingly clear.
Apparently, if you're a Republican but aren't 100% loyal to 100% of the Republican candidates, you're suddenly labeled a Democrat, a RINO, a socialist, or even a communist.
Really?
Whatever happened to a Republican's right to think independently and decide who deserves their vote?
Is that no longer a Republican principle?
If Republican candidates lose on Tuesday, will we blame Republicans who didn't vote for them? Or will we acknowledge that the majority of voters simply chose someone else?
And here's a bigger question.
Do we blame voters for exercising their constitutional right to choose, or do we hold the Republican Party accountable for a process that sometimes discourages competition and fails to properly vet candidates?
Who should decide who represents the Republican Party?
Party leadership or Republican voters?
Should a Republican be expected to support a candidate simply because that candidate has an R after their name, regardless of qualifications, character, principles, or positions?
And when did questioning a Republican candidate become an act of disloyalty?
I have always believed in Republican principles. But believing in those principles does not mean blindly supporting every person who claims to represent them.
Loyalty to principles should always come before loyalty to a candidate or a party.
I continue to believe that closed Republican primaries are necessary. Republican voters should decide who represents their party.
I also believe the Republican Party should NEVER endorse candidates in contested Republican primaries. Let the candidates compete. Let their records, qualifications, character, and positions be examined. And most importantly, let Republican voters decide.
Party leadership is not always right. And when party leaders attempt to predetermine the outcome of a primary, they risk overriding the very voters they claim to represent.
The party should support the voters' choice, not attempt to make that choice for them.
Next Wednesday, after the votes are counted, there will be plenty of questions to answer.
But perhaps the most important question is this:
Does the Republican Party belong to its leadership, its candidates, or the Republican voters?
I know where I stand.
The party belongs to the people. And no Republican should be attacked for exercising the very freedom of choice our party claims to defend.

If, and it's a big if, Trump does fire anyone, the buck still stops at the Resolute Desk.
This is the same contradictory argument from the election. You can't simultaneously be smart and powerful, while at the same time be blameless because your staff pulled something on you.

"You’re looking at a pair of people who think the rest of us should simply get out of the way while they redesign governance, human nature, and the future to their liking."
Transhumanist Silicon Valley edgelord Peter Thiel has spent years cultivating Curtis Yarvin as his philosopher-king and his very own personal“house philosopher.”
Under the name Mencius Moldbug , Yarvin spent years hawking techno-monarchy and the Dark Enlightenment, ideas that line up with almost suspicious neatness against Thiel’s 2009 declaration that freedom and democracy aren’t compatible.
When a transhumanist billionaire and his preferred court intellectual both decide democratic constraints are the real problem, you’re not looking at a quirky intellectual friendship. You’re looking at a pair of people who think the rest of us should simply get out of the way while they redesign governance, human nature, and the future to their liking.
And if you’re paying attention, you’ll start to notice the intersectionality at work across the entirety of the Woke Right.
Instead of sticking strictly to economic class (bourgeoisie versus proletariat), this version maps the same Marxist dynamics onto a new set of identity categories—race, gender, class, sexuality, and now young men, whites, Christians—dividing society into intersecting systems of privileged “oppressors” and marginalized “oppressed.”
Only this time it’s being manufactured by the New Right. Young men are told they’re oppressed, whites are told they’re oppressed, Christians are told they’re oppressed, and the designated villain is capitalism and the free market. Just like the Woke Left, the Woke Right ends up advocating for socialism.
Resisting AI tech acceleration is the Antichrist, at least according to the eisegetical reading preferred by transhumanist Peter Thiel. So in Thiel’s “black is white” universe, standing against the people who want to replace your heart, mind, and soul while promising you eternal life through technology is not just futile - it’s practically sinful.
It is the same play as the Woke Left, at warp speed, on the “New Right” - all for the purpose of ending our constitutional republic and throwing us all at the mercy of those who aren’t just interested in replacing our representatives, but also in replacing our Lord and Savior.
