A 1982 Star Wars Video Rental Library VHS just sold for $50,000, setting a new record! Sold by Nostalgix.
This copy is currently a 1/1 in its highest grade and represents the first home-video release of Star Wars, arriving in 1982 on VHS and Betamax. This early rental-library edition captures a major moment in both Star Wars and home-video history.
This collectible brings together a landmark @StarWars release, a scarce early rental format, and an unmatched top-grade copy. With interest from both Star Wars collectors and VHS collectors, this $50,000 sale shows how much history and condition can matter.
A true grail from the beginning of home video. ✨

🚨Collecting Update🚨 We just received our @CGCHomeVideo graded 1982 Star Wars Library (matching serial) copy that we submitted during SD @Comic_Con! This VHS copy pre-dates the 1st commercial print. We LOVE it! #CollectorsAtHeart 💙 #Collecting #VHS
Call me crazy if you want, but I’ve just got this feeling that the movie magazines covering the release of the Mavel movies could be extremely collectible in the future in a high grade, especially the exclusive covers like the ones I’m sharing! #GradedMagazines #CGC #PSA
Sending this off to CGC Europe today after watching @CGC_SI ‘s ‘how to pack and submit video’ for what must be the hundredth time! Peace of mind is everything when packing up a bulk submission. Love this cover!

One of the finest Michael Jordan Covers of ALL-TIME! 🤯
This December 10, 1984 Sports Illustrated "A Star Is Born" issue marks Jordan's first professional cover, and this newsstand example in an incredible PSA 9.8 was JUST CONSIGNED!
Pop 2 with none higher, this Top Pop copy features razor-sharp corners and a beautiful spine. A monster consignment from one of basketball's most iconic magazine covers.
Keep your eyes on this one, it's COMING SOON to our Fall Goldin 100 Auction!
Picked up a massive box of Time magazines today for €20 in Dublin. Most of the 1980’s covered. This was a stand out. Looks in good condition too. 🍎
Love this one! The very 1st cover appearance on any magazine for Tupac Shakur. Jet magazine from July 19, 1993, also featuring Janet Jackson. I’m cleaning and pressing this copy for a customer.
I talk about this a lot. Sometimes with pressing we’re just looking for degrees of improvement. This piece was far too damaged to make it perfect, and that’s ok. The before and after pics show massive improvement. My customer has decided to send this one to PSA for grading

🚨 We are starting to see more and more CGC graded non sport magazines listed by a handful of UK and Ireland sellers on eBay. Video game magazines seem to be the most significant. Hopefully this growth continues… 🇬🇧 🇮🇪
Pop culture magazines seem to be getting more and more traction. This is Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones on the cover of LucasFilm Fan Club Magazine from March 1989. I’m cleaning and pressing this piece for a customer.
While the LucasFilm Fan Club started in 1977 and still operates today, the magazine had a limited 22 issue run from 1987 until 1994 when it was rebranded as Star Wars Insider.
The flaws at the bottom cleaned up nicely. My customer chose CGC as the grading company for this. By the way, it’s autographed too!

Picked this up for less than €1. Still in wrapper and condition looks very good. I think Tech covers are going to be hugely popular as the magazine hobby grows!

Seemed like Tiger Woods ruled the sports world in the early 2000’s, winning majors and always appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated. This one came out 26 years ago today.
When this came out Tiger had just won the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville Kentucky. While we didn’t know it at the time, he was in the middle of the “Tiger Slam”, winning all 4 majors consecutively. After this, the only one remaining was the 2001 Masters.
This copy of SI is shown graded in newsstand at CGC 9.4
